With only Beano, 2000 AD and The Phoenix being the only surviving weeklies, the batton has long been passed to magazines that are published less regularly.
So a simple question:
What is your all time favourite non-weekly comic periodical?

Difficult.
I'm going for Commando, Rampage, The Megazine.
BUT....
Star Heroes Pocket Book (Marvel) featuring Battlestar Galactica and Micronauts is ACTUALLY going to have to be.....
MY 2nd FAVE
IST....Mighty World of Marvel Volume 3 (Panini)
I loved Marvels' MWOM weekly comic, then they changed it to a monthly and changed the name "Marvel Superheroes" but kept the numbering.
Then we had MWOM monthly soon after.
Years later Panini revised the title in the 90s.

...and don't forget when it became Marvel Comic weekly. Pretty terrible at the start, it became a lot better but I guess many had given up by then. And of course, Hulk had graduated into his own comic by then and featured the terrific Black Knight and Night-Raven stories. Then as the weekly glossies returned, ol'Greenskin got his Incredible Hulk comic, alongside other weeklies of the FF, X-Men and Thor, all reprinting classics strips from the, mainly (but not exclusively), Lee / Kirby era. You can't keep a good tale down.

Lovely post and a great round up of the later Marvel era Starscape.starscape wrote: 11 Apr 2025, 14:34 ...and don't forget when it became Marvel Comic weekly. I have many MWOMs through out all of its incarnations and I think the Marvel Comic Weekly was the strangest of all ....for one reason alone.
It's a great comic and lovely to see MWOM revive itself in such a way under Dez Skinner but what REALLY CONFUSES ME is that Marvel Comic (after 8 months) joins the Spiderman title and rather than this being the death of MWOM the numbering continues with Avengers and XMen strips with a title change to "Marvel Superheroes" , a monthly publication.
I got XMEN and Thor when they came out and collected them all over again a few years back on Ebay.
I am a massive fan of the Fantastic Four but haven't collected any of their UK titles.
I have a massive collection of the original USA version which goes from issue 1 (lol a reprint, not the original !) ,many early issues in "reading" condition, most of the seventies,80s ,90s etc up to the modern day.
As sad as I was to see the original Marvel UK franchise fold, I think Panini have done a wonderful job in revitalizing Marvel over here.
As you so brilliantly put it ...." You can't keep a good tale down".
