I've already asked my dear friends David Sque, Barrie Tomlinson and Paul Trevillion to send me some of their memories about, for all Greek RotR fans.
I will place them here too, of course, as soon as possible, to mark the event!
Here's dear David Sque's message, marking the anniversary:
"Hi Nikos and all my Greek ROTR fans! Yes, I remember the launch of the new Roy of the Rovers Comic! It was the start of a new era! It was a lot more work for me as often I had to do the Cover, Centre pages and the Back page all in one week!!!?? This was all done by hand and in full Colour! I remember my love affair with Greece and the Greek people in the seventies and visiting mainland Greece, Rhodes, Mykonos, Skiathos and Crete. I told my Sub Editor, Ian Vosper, all about Crete and he decided to go there on holiday where he met and fell in love Irini who was the receptionist and daughter of the owner and sometime later, they got married. Ian chatted with the ROTR script writer and that inspired the Roy adventure set in Crete!!! Fond memories!!!"
