The Chefs Of Death Graphic Novel

Post by ChefsOfDeath »

Inspired by John Wagner and Alan Grant's much loved Doomlord photo story (which is finally being collected together this year, and I can't wait to read it), this collection includes all three issues of the super-sized mini-series where aliens discover Earth and decide to devour us all, plus , a brand new "Summer Special" plus a whole bunch of extras, and runs to 243 pages! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/al ... hic-novel/

We've been lucky enough to get a whole bunch of cameos from the likes of John Higgins, Boo Cook, (The late, great) Barrie Tomlinson, Ant Williams, Steve MacManus, David Hine, Kev.F Sutherland, David Baillie, Lew Stringer and Jim Alexander, as well as Look Around You and The Peter Serafinowicz Show co-stars Paul Putner and Sanjeev Kohli!

With all profits going to charity, so far the comic has raised a total of £1235 which was split between Cancer Research, Mind and Crisis, and the same applies with the graphic novel where this time we will be fundraising for the Blue Cross animal charity, who have been dedicated to helping sick, injured and homeless pets since 1897. https://www.bluecross.org.uk/

Praise for The Chefs of Death:

"It’s a lot of fun, with the photo strip adding a great deal of humour to the story - and you’ll notice quite a few amusing details hidden in some of the photos too. In short, it’s a loving, clever and knowing homage to the brief life of a bleak, photogenic anti-hero – though no knowledge of Doomlord is needed to have fun reading The Chefs of Death." - Jason Brown, MidLifeGamerGeek

"The narrative is genuinely compelling throughout these issues, regardless of how you feel about photo strips. The presentation really emphasises the silly aspects and good humour involved, but the writing of this one sneaks in an entertaining slice of sci-fi. There's loads of great British pop culture references and jokes along with the sublimely simple and daft. It's great absurdist sci-photo-fi for the ages" - Joe Thompson, ComicBookNewsUK

"A bonkers new kickstarter comic from the brain of Alex Finch and co in the vein of the old 80's photo-strips such as Doomlord etc... Chefs of Death is a crazy satirical read featuring some curious cameos from various folk in the comics industry, myself included. Watch us show them pesky aliens!" Boo Cook (Judge Dredd / Elephantman).

The graphic novel has been completed, and an advanced proof copy exists, so I feel there's no risk of this project going ahead - Indeed the moment the campaign ends I've set it up so I can send the order through to the printers within just a couple of minutes!

More info on the book can be found here: http://thechefsofdeath.com/ - And thanks for taking the time to read this!
