Re: Football's Comic Book Heroes - new book.

We are having an exhibition of prints from the football book in Walthamstow, north east London. It would be good to see anyone who could make it.

[ If you want it, just PM me your address and I'll get it into the post tomorrow. No charge. Just let us know what you think of it.

A very kind offer, and I've love to hear it, but I no longer have any way of playing cassettes. My last machine gave up the ghost, and I can't see myself buying a ...

Re: So what comic related items did you get for Xmas then?

I'm sure it was her, as it was the first time I'd heard the song, and the first time I'd heard of Eric Bogle. I'd always assumed it was some obscure Fairports recording, but I maybe wrong it was a long time ago

Re: So what comic related items did you get for Xmas then?

It was definitely Sandy Denny, John Peel played it as a birthday tribute to her, maybe it was done as a Peel session.

Re: So what comic related items did you get for Xmas then?

As we are talking about Sandy Denny, does anyone know where I can get her version of "The band played waltzing Matilda"? I heard it on John Peel once, but never managed to track it down

Re: When The Comics Went To War

I Googled "books sales figures" and found a site which mentioned Nielsen Bookscan. Maybe that has the info you need?
Thanks, I've tried that it seems you need to pay a subscription

Re: When The Comics Went To War

Does anyone have any idea how we find out the sales figures for our two books? The only info I have is the ranking on Amazon

Re: When The Comics Went To War

I made myself a couple of t shirts when I was working on the football book, and reproductions of the first Beano and Dandy annuals (which I don't think were ever published). I looked into producing them to sell, but it's an expensive business and I know nothing about the rag trade, so decided ...

Re: When The Comics Went To War

I think the overall response from the forum has been very encouraging, and we are very grateful for the positive feedback. We understand that anyone who reads the book has a right to post an opinion and we have to accept it and take the rough with the smooth.
It’s been a very frustrating process ...

Re: When The Comics Went To War

Thank Phoenix, for your review and comments on When the Comics Went
to War. You've certainly given it a good read through! just a couple
of points I'd like to raise... I know Adam is upset that the
publishers' proof readers did not pick up some of the 'silly' errors
such as typos, spelling ...

Re: When The Comics Went To War

Digi, you're probably right, but when you set up a book to be THE reference book, you need to deal in hard fact.

I don't think we ever said it was THE reference book, unless a press release has gone out that I haven't seen.

To answer another point, we are going to try to credit the artists in ...
