Re: Wikipedia - aargh!

For example, I was reading the main Beano page when I noticed that a bit about comic idol had been added. I've edited it now but the standard of the original version was in my opinion very poor. It stated that the first vote was in 1997 (wrong, it was 1995) and it mentioned that the first one wasn'...

You couldnt even find sources on the McTickles on this site or at least quote them as sources because according to wikipedia forums aren't reliable sources.

Re: NEW! Dangerous Dan by Nigel P

The new Dangerous Dan strip has begun to grow on me. With the latest strips alot better than the awkward first strip. However i find it odd that Dangerous Dan lacks a father and i think i might be reading too much into this, because many Beano characters dont appear to have fathers (Fred's Bed is a ...

Dennis and Gnasher and Friends Cartoon Capers

Ok i have this book entitled Dennis and Gnasher and Friends Cartoon Capers. The book appears to be a few hundred pages of what I think are reprints from classics from the comics. I only think this because a number of the strips have classic Buzz or classic Beano sort of stamped on them like they did...

Re: Wikipedia - aargh!

i would but i dont think i know enough about him to create a decent size article.

Actually i'll try to write one.

I have now made the article. It could do with some work but at least it's better than no article.

Re: What about HOOT!?

But the subject of the thread was originally "Why isn't Hoot used in Classics?" (it eventually was) with Tommy asking the same thing about Champ. Since Classics no longer exists, there's no longer any point asking such a question. I'd have no complaints if someone posted something relating to a bac...

Re: ABCs for Jan-Jun 2011 - disappointing results...

According to this BBC News Article in 2001 the Beano sold 250,000 copies a week back then. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/1106186.stm However I think that might be too high. But if it is right then in ten years its dropped to 37,000 a week thats almost 15 per cent as many sales as it was t...

Re: Ooyah! Punishment in the fun comics

An odd example of this kind of punishment appears in the Beano Book 1953, the one with Jack Flash carrying Biffo on the cover, (which has an odd looking Dennis the Menace on the cover without his red and black jersey) in a Jack Flash and The Terrible Twins strip. The strip ends with the terrible twi...

Re: ABCs for Jan-Jun 2011 - disappointing results...

The DC Thomson Children's Entertainment Package (Boys) sales figures appear to be just sales figures of The Beano, The Dandy and The Beano Max added up. 7,448 + 37,145 +24,438 = 69,031 I doubt the Dandy will be able to survive much longer and I can forsee it being merged with The Beano or at least t...
