Re: Dc thomson in manchester

Thomsons sold the printing works in Manchester around twenty years. They still have a Circulation Office there I think. As far as I know, the Annuals have always been printed in the West Ward printing works in Dundee.

Re: The 2010 Annual Covers!

On the subject of The Dennis Annual - it's a Dennis & Gnasher Annual this year to coincide with the launch of the new series on CBBC. It's a nice padded effort featuring a scene from the title sequence from the series. Nigel P. and Barrie Appleby drew the stories in the book. Not sure why the image ...

Re: Euan Kerr sacked

Just to keep the record straight (though I'm tempted to make up an exciting and intriguing reason for my departure) - I am going by my own choice and didn't negotiate any special deal. After 40 years in the business and with my health and sanity almost in tact, the lure of the golf course was too ...

Wallace and Gromit stories all brand, spanking new, Andy. Jim Hansen is drawing them as he did for the Titan Wallace and Gromit Comic.

Ian Gray

A bit more background about Ian 'Smokie' Gray as requested by Steve.

Ian was Chief-sub of Beano for many years during the 60s and 70s. He wrote Dennis, Bash Street and Biffo over a prolonged period and invented several other characters like The McTickles, The Nibblers and Wee Ben Nevis. His main ...

Fred's Bed

Just a bit of background on David Parkins. He moved to Canada in 2006 and, though he's still in touch with DCT, it's unlikely that he'll be able to do very much work. Hopefully we'll be able to do some long distance arm tweisting and get him to tackle some covers or annual pages.
His work reprinted ...

BBC series on comics

Heard that the series is to be aired on Sept 10th. The comics section is very much a celebration of great comic artists of the past - Ken Reid, Dudley Watkins, Davey Law and Leo Baxendale.

The beginning of the end for 'The Dandy' ?

Just to confirm that a Dandy Summer Special has just gone to press. As Gary N. reported, there is also to be a themed BeanoMAX Summer Issue in July. Gary's Derek the Sheep has been booked to star in BeanoMax at the Movies out next week (shameless plug!).

New comic from DC Thomson

Hunt's workwill be appearing in BeanoMax around issue 4. Can't say for sure yet, as he has just recently received a script. There are plans for future stories for the Emerson pen to work its magic.
