Re: Jackpot Annual 1982 Christmas Cover Art

Ahhhhhhhh..... who can remember the Jackpot Annual & Comic by Fleetway Press? I do. Had the comic on order at my local newsagent, among others, and every week would run home from school to see if my mother had picked it up. It was superb. Great stories and even greater characters. Anyway, a few yea...

Kolchak 'The Night Stalker' Salem's Lot Commission

Today had delivery of an art commision. Been corresponding over the weeks & months with the highly talented DC/Marvel/Aquaman artist Kirk Jarvinen. I was fortunate to purchase all the art he ever did, about 50+ pages, for the Moonstone Graphic Comic series that featured Karl Kolchak from the cult 19...

Re: Jackpot Annual 1982 Christmas Cover Art

According to wiki he wasn't allowed to sign his initials until 1947 so perhaps my art predates that. Yeah, that does sound logical. I'll try and do a bit more digging around to see if there's any pre-1947 images on the net. And you'll never know, I might even track down the actual issues the pages ...

Re: Jackpot Annual 1982 Christmas Cover Art

Can somebody confirm these two pieces are by Allan Morley as they are not initialled by him? https://photos.app.goo.gl/9YqHTUjQ5HGXfAFE9 On checking some Keyhole Kate examples on the net, both are highly likely penned by Allan Morley. See below one of Allan's strips from 1949. https://www.paulmason...

Original John Inman Newspaper Cartoon Art

Thought I'd share this with all the forum members. Earlier this year obtained a piece of the late comic actor John Inman's estate after it was auctioned off by Special Auction Services, of Thatcham, Berkshire in 2019. The cartoon was published in the Sun Newspaper and was signed by the artist Stanle...

Agree, prefer it uncoloured

Sadly due to colourisation process, likely using a cell overlay, the published page has the blotting paper effect in which the colour bleeds out giving the image a blurry feel resulting in loss of detail.

Re: Original Red Dwarf Smegazine Art

Recently dug out another Red Dwarf artwork. This time not as elaborate and colourful the other two, but a B&W page from Red Dwarf Smegazine issue #4 from June 1992. Here's the original page that I own and the colourised version that featured in the Smegazine. I find a lot of detail was lost once the...

On The Buses Look-in Art (Harry North)

Who can remember the Look-in Magazine growing up in the 70s? I used to love seeing all the comic strips from classic British comedy series of the day, such as. On The Buses. Man About The House. Please Sir. Catweazle. Mind Your Language. And many many more.... I've collected on my travels about 20+ ...

Re: Jackpot Annual 1982 Christmas Cover Art

Thanks for sharing. It’s a great piece of art from a great artist. Too much of Sid’s art has been destroyed but he’s always been a favourite. His work on Joker always made me go straight to the back cover of Whizzer & Chips before I even opened it. Hey, you're welcome friend. It's a lovely piece. I...

Al, perhaps you could oblige by putting those covers onto the Grand Comics Database. I'm going to out those two Beanos on if Into the Abyss doesn't mind.
Stevezodiac. Good idea about AI's covers. And regarding my two Beanos. Hey, copy & paste away friend. Welcome to use them. πŸ™‚πŸ‘
