Beano no. 1 on ebay now

Post by stevezodiac »

The very first Beano is on ebay priced at 4500 quid. It is not a reprint but is, in fact, Dennis Gifford's copy. Less than two days to go - have a look.

My favourite cover there is Cor # 1. I think the 70s IPC humour comics generally had very well designed and attractive covers.

I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

--I'm tempted myself, but unfortunately I am curbing spending at the moment, so I won't be in therunning.....

--P.S.; --ANDY; I'm not merely plugging E-BAY here: these illustrations [on their own terms] should hold some interest to some site members!

Beano No.1 on ebay, would you risk bidding on this, someone who has feedback of 3, I bet it's the reproduction job done a while back.
Look at the terrible scan, if someone was selling No.1 they would do a better job then that.
And some poor fool as falling for it up to £320 already.
A couple of people bidding on it have very low feed back bet it's a con.

They'll be the ones laughing if it turns out to be genuine and they get it for £320.

Although I agree, first issue of the Beano seems a big step up for someone who's only sold two dresses and a pair of rollerblades on eBay before... and looking at that picture, the white bits of the comic seem too "white" to be 73 years old... if you know what I mean!
