I found an envelope full of letters from various DC Thomson editors yesterday. I was submitting artwork in the 1970s. Among them were a couple of Ball Boys scripts I'd written and drawn (they preferred scripts to be sketched out). Sadly my artwork wasn't up to scratch and the script was rejected as it was out of character. Here's the link to it:

That's really interesting. The script definitely feels very Beano but I'd agree with them saying it was out of character for Ball Boy. Could work more as a Minnie strip.

I thought of changing the character but the problem now is that the kids no longer get slippered, not sure how they are punished nowadays.

Pocket money stopped, grounded, or something karmic (like Roger trying to dodge chores but ending up having to do something that's even more work). Sometimes they just get away with their mischief.
