I'm afraid Scotlands days of being a "power" of any kind are over for a while. We suffer (and gain) from being a small country but with 2 massive clubs in the old firm but they've wanted instant success (and look how succesful thats been) and like England have gone for overseas plays (but lesser llights in general) so the Scottish young talent that would normally play for 2-3 years for Morton etc then more to Rangers. Celtic or England don't now get the chance and languish in the lower leagues or leave for fulltime jobs and are lost to the game. I think the new set up , league reconstruction etc will in around 8 years produce more players and we'll be back qualifying for the World Cup again and getting humped by the likes of Burkina Faso etc in no time

Digi; other managers are Paul Le Guen (French) manages Cameroon (although I doubt he'll be in that position long) and I reckon most East and Western African teams are managed by Europeans managers at present.

Teams to support up here - well probably best for you to get as near the border as you can (you never know!) so its the mighty Annan Athletic , Queen of the South or Berwick Rangers (who are after all an Enlgish club) - if you want to be adventurous and travel further then the great Hamilton Accademical are the team to go for or Cowdenbeath the "Blue Brazil" !! Queens Park are good (amazing history and nice strip ) as they paly at Hampden (well lesser Hampden next door) but they're Amateurs and a bit posh - so wear your cravat!

Phoenix - great selection of amazing Scots players from he past (sadly) would add Jimmy Johnston, Danny McGrain, Kenny Dalgleish, Bobby Lennox, Souness, Davy Cooper, Davey Hay and Sandy Jardine... I bias though

Nah Berwick get on up here ok they're well liked and most of us Scots still consider Berwick as ours anyway - you've only got it on loan

Not true - we did score some goals. Green could only be top scorer if all our opponents kept clean sheets.

I'm not a sports fan at all, but how come footballers, who are members of a team of 11 and play for 45 minutes at a time, with a fair proportion of that time spent not being particularly active, spit all over the place, while tennis players who are reliant only on themselves and can spend hours in constant extreme exertion, never spit at all (apart from that exception who got fined for spitting at the crowd)?

We thats why I said "Jimmy" not "Willie" lol - Gawd you had to dig deep for that one excellent stuff I'm impressed - Willie was a great player but a total madman/nutter (not a character like he likes thinks to think he is) in the truest sense of the word - he mooned the opposing bench following a goal when he was playing in Canada, he took a drink of beer (ok a gulp)from a fan during a game when playing in the USA, and the worst, in Scotland he nearly killed an Aberdeen player (John McMaster ) who had to be given the kiss of life as Johnston had stood heavily on his throat.

As I said (numerous times) before on here, our 1978 campaing was a disaster and we quite rightly took it on the chin from the English (and the rest of the footballing world - we even got slagged on the last edition of Mock the Week) at the time some really funny things as well at the time - it's all just a laugh and despite the ramblings of the great Mr Shankly, it is only a game and NOT a matter of life and death.

Brazil lost... Netherlands beat them 2-1. I feel sorry for Ghana. Stalemate at 1-1, Uruguay took them down on penalties 4-2. I hope Spain win their semi-final, since it'll be against the winner of the Argentina-Germany game.

I reckon Netherlands v Argentina for the final (repeat of 78) had them as my (office) £3 bet so looking good. SPAIN are good but I reckon they could struggle agains Paraguay. Felt really sorry for Ghana also , they played great (as did Uruguay to be fair) but to miss a penalty as the last kick of ET is a sickner.

Yes, I will not be remotely surprised to read sometime next week that Asamoah Gyan has signed for Bolton Wanderers as a replacement for any one of our current crop of so-called strikers, who are equally inept. Words like couldn't, banjo, cow, a**e and hit come to mind, not necessarily in that order.
