All I have been buying recently comics-related are saucy seaside postcards, and I've only won one this week...I bid for loads every week, but the rarer [ruder] ones are always so in demand.....

----this one is by Phil Millar, who done' Sam's Snake' and' I Fly ' as well as 'Willie Getaway' for SPARKY in the early 70s.

I actually prefer his coloured postcard work, the colour technique really brings his work to life:

Good grief, really??
...Considering he didn't actually die until 1972 I'd say that was a little premature!

Well I suppose "scooping" the story 62 years in advance certianly got one over on supposed 'real' newspapers!

As a matter of interest here's a picture of Phil himself, as seen in a 1956 issue of the British glamour mag Blighty, which regularly featured his work alongside that of Ferrier, Stevens, Maroc, Greenall, etc.

I received last weeks Dandy in the mail this morning.

I have not yet received this weeks issues of Beano and Dandy due to it being delayed as a result of the Easter/Anzac Day extended long weekend and the Labour Day holiday last month.

I get the feeling I'll receive this weeks issues in the mail on Monday. and just when things get back to normal... the June long weekend public holiday will rear it's head, and another month of delayed issues.

Thank goodness this is the final long weekend until years end, so I should get the rest of my subscription more-or-less on time.

Thanks very much for the historical pic featuring Phil Millar, [and the photo of him--a new one on me].I'll be saving this image, definately.

Phil was brilliant at drawing the female form, and his seaside postcard work seems much in demand on e-bay [some of them are a bit near-the-knuckle, and hence very popular!]

I rate his PEDRO/JESTER etc series just as highly as the more widely-known Bamforth material.

On Saturday, #'s 2,3,4 of Intrepids (Image) which is quite entertaining, enough to make me keep going with it. Sherlock Holmes yr. 1 (D.E.) which continues to be a mixture of good story, slightly confusingly told, in my opinion. I think the art at times fails to deliver different faces. Green Hornet yr. 1 (D.E.) This is the only G.H. worth reading, now that the GA reprint series is finished. I think and Matt Wagner does a great job. Flashpoint #2 (D.D.) Well, that's me finished with this rubbish. Zatanna (D.C.) One of the few titles anywhere that I really look forward to.

From what I've seen of Zatanna it seems to have a nice 'Silver Age' feel. I particularly liked the recent "I have the strangest feeling I'm being turned into a puppet" storyline. Apparently they do write them like that anymore!

Unfortunately she'll probably be rebooted as an evil zombie-vampire in the new version!

OOOOOH-ERRRR! I do hope not. What a waste of a great costume. And I hope you're not giving DC ideas about what to do with Black Canary. I shudder to think what abominations they could visit on her.

I recieved more copies of Match Weekly from the 80's featuring the Cannon comic strip, slowly getting closer to having a full set of the strip.

Picked up a Ultimate Beano Summer Special and 3 recent Commando issues from Smiths. Passed on Beano and Dandy, fed up of the big size and/or gifts.

Hi, I've not been on here in a while. Thought I'd take a look around again.

The other day, I came across some 'Buster' comics from the 90's for 50p each. It had been a long time since I'd bought any of these, so it persuaded me to have a look around on ebay for some. Since then, I've bought about 10 more Buster's, mostly from the 80's, and a couple of Whizzer & Chips and Beezer's. The best part of today though, was finally getting around to completing my collection of Bash Street Kid's annuals. For some reason or another, I had never got around to getting the 1986 annual, so I bought that one this morning.
