I seem to remember 'Plum Duffy' being drawn by Brian White but I'll check on this. I'll also check on dates of Bob Nixon's 'Capt Cutler and his Butler'
'Tin Teacher' in Buster was early work from Peter Devidson who now draws Oor Wullie and the Broons.

I am genuinely surprized that PETER DAVIDSON drew 'TIN TEACHER', KASHGAR........your credentials are so impeccable, I will take your word for it..........I remember all the 'BLEEP!'-ing in the ROBOT dialogue, and I always felt this strip had a slightly unhealthy edge [a bit like medievel strip 'WHACKO!', ]--the kids seemed positively murderous!

'SPARKY' is the one comic I am actively trying to obtain a full set of: I am fairly sure that 'CAPTAIN CUTLER' took over the colour centrespread from 'I SPY' around SEPT. 1972........I viewed a lot of these items, just recently.....this strip was called ''oh, CRUMBS!' in earlier-produced artwork for 'SPARKY' annuals.

Thanks for the compliment but I dread the thought of having to live up to having impeccable credentials as I'm sure we are all capable of making the odd mistake but re Peter Davidson I'm pretty certain that this is correct. In the 1960's and 1970's he spent most of his artistic time doing gag cartoons for golfing and fishing magazines, two of his main interests, and his comic strip output was pretty limited at that time.ISPYSHHHGUY wrote:I am genuinely surprized that PETER DAVIDSON drew 'TIN TEACHER', KASHGAR........your credentials are so impeccable, I will take your word for it..........I remember all the 'BLEEP!'-ing in the ROBOT dialogue, and I always felt this strip had a slightly unhealthy edge [a bit like medievel strip 'WHACKO!', ]--the kids seemed positively murderous!
I checked 'Plum Duffy' and it was drawn by Brian White, and not by Albert Holroyd as somebody had speculated, and it ran in Topper Nos 1090 (22/12/73) - 1109 (5/4/74).
As for Capt Cutler he first appeared in Sparky No 397 (26/8/72) and ran on for about six months. When I manage to track down my 1973 Sparkys I'll give more exact details of when the strip ended if need be.

Very short run, then, so not surprising it doesn't get mentioned, perhaps - though it left an impression on little me. Thanks for those dates; I fancy taking a look at Plum again sometime, so they'll be very helpful.
