Of course Colan wasn't the only one to use a pseudonym at Marvel in order to avoid any reprisals from the notoriously vindictive Kanigher. 'Gary Michaels' who inked several of Gene's early Iron Man stories was in reality Jack Abel, while Mike Esposito inked many issues of Spider-Man as 'Mickey Demeo'. And Mort Weisinger could be even worse, which is why Kurt Schaffenberger signed his ACG covers as Lou Wahl! Given this climate of oppression at DC it's hardly surprising that so many people preferred working for Stan Lee when the opportunity arose!

This obituary by Paul Gravett was published in The Guardian yesterday. I've had to scan it in two sections as it is too wide for my scanner. I think you can just about read it, if you persevere. Sorry, it's the best I can manage. If you genuinely find it too challenging, I could do it again in four sections, I suppose.

Several of his eighties books were shot from pencils, as I recall. Detectives Inc. (second series?) and Nathaniel Dusk (as has been mentioned). Ragamuffins as well, I think.
