I won't get started on my views on Thatcher or I'll never stop!

The thing about her & comic strip appearances reminded me a lot of the more political Viz-clone from 1989-91 ish called Brain Damage (later The Damage).

She often popped up in its strips.

One that sticks a lot in my mind was the "Bloody Stoodents" strip where Mrs T is portrayed with long claws & shark's teeth, having abolished grants for student loans.

It features her saying about "paying off these samll amounts" whilst a student looks at a bill for thousands of pounds.

It also very prophetically predicted in about 10ish years time the only ones going to Uni will be charity cases (nowadays box tickings) with things such a deformities or toothsome spoilt rich kids who one says "everone has loadamanny and there's no Northern Oiks about!"

(interesting I read that when her death was announced at an NUS conference the cheers were very muted. Hmmm).

I remember a strip in Private Eye called "Dan Dire - Pilot of the Future?", where Dan Dire (Neil Kinnock) and his sidekick Pigby (Roy Hattersley) usually failed to foil the evil schemes of the Maggon, with all sorts of random sci-fi references thrown in - when the real Maggie had to rely on the House of Lords to pass a bill, the Maggon would team up with the Time Lords, that kind of thing.

Graham Allen is in fine form in today's Express - nice to see him doing a non sport caricature.
