As storytelling, "Trigan Empire" and "Space Cadet" were both interesting hybrids, "Trigan" mixing historical adventure and science fiction, and "Cadet" being a blend of school story, high seas adventure, and science fiction. I think the trouble with "Trigan" is it ran out of ideas after a couple of years and began repeating itself over and over again for the next decade. "Cadet" didn't last long enough to have this problem.
