That's confirmed by the feature on Bill Lacey written by David Ashford and Norman Wright for their 'Great British Comics Artists' series in Book & Magazine Collector.
(This occasional series has been running for several years and provides an invaluable resource for anyone interested in the history of British comics. Incidentally this month's issue features Joe Colquhoun as number 26 in the series.)
Somewhat unusually, MIKE LACEY worked for D.C.T homson at one point;----this was on 'RUDOLF the REDCOAT MOUNTIE' for 'SPARKY' in 1970.......though he never signed his work [to my knowledge], I am fairly certain that this two-page colour strip was MIKE'S work, and as far as I know is the only comics work he did for D.C.T.
This strip featured 'DANGEROUS DAN McGURK',---and also a witty horse who quipped by thinking aloud, and the short-lived saga [it was actually quite good] ended with Mc GURK running off into the distant desert. A bit like 'SPARKY'S' 'WILLIE GETAWAY', this strip ended open-endedly.
