Re: What comics did you buy today?
My weekly trip to Deptford flea market saw me hauling home 38 issues of Tell Me Why in superb condition - £15 the lot also the 1974 Oor Wullie book (published in 1974 so the 1975 book) for £1.This was the first Sunday Post annual I bought as I started reading the Sunday Post in 1974 and only then became aware of these books. As it was only a quid I thought i'd get it and put it on ebay so it can go to a good home. Also got the Jack Kirby Collector 31 for a quid.

That's very good value for money. Did you get them from Jim's Emporium?TwoHeadedBoy wrote:The complete run of Hoot! - issues 1 to 53... Just £15 from my favourite local collectables shop

Yep, that's the one - nice guy, Jim. He seemed gutted when I told him about Charles Grigg.

He was even more gutted earlier in the year because he had agreed a sale of his business, but the potential buyer backed out at the last minute. Jim is now resigned to putting off his retirement to his residence in Orrell Park, but at least someone is coming in to help him in the shop. I was last there about six weeks ago, and I must say that the place looked a lot tidier than I've ever seen it. I first met Jim many years ago when he was trading in Quiggins, which as you no doubt know was one of the victims of the massive reconstruction of that area in the lead-up to 2008 when Liverpool became Capital of Culture. The extended shopping centre is now really vibrant, certainly a match for Manchester's. I haven't yet been to the refurbished Central (and International) Library, the bulk of whose books were in storage for two years, but I will go soon. It looks fantastic from the outside.TwoHeadedBoy wrote:Yep, that's the one - nice guy, Jim. He seemed gutted when I told him about Charles Grigg.

Yeah, I miss Quiggin's, and boycotted Liverpool One until about 2011 as my own form of "protest". Grand Central's a nice enough replacement though, got that nice bazaar feel that Quiggin's had (only with slightly less vertigo).
Haven't been to the refurbished library yet myself either (still haven't even been to that new museum!). This city's changed so much over the last ten years, it's hard to keep up!

Whenever I go to Liverpool One, I never fail to be amused by the sheer cheek shown by Everton F. C., who set up their club shop there, and called it Everton Two. Delightful.

I have finished my eBay purchases for the year when I purchased the Wham! annual, 1968

Pretty sure it's Commando's first one, though I'm not sure about all the pocket libraries. Commando itself has been a free gift on occasion! I have an issue of Victor with a Commando stuck to it.is this the first free gift with commando or any other pocket library type comic
Dunno if the postcards are going to be a one-off new year attraction, or a regular feature. I wish I had some wall space! One of these days I'll be getting an A1 sized print of "Upside Down Ace", when I have an A1 sized patch of wall to put it on.
Anyway, yesterday I got Bike Boy Rides Again, by Oliver Frey / Zack. I also got one of his novels, which I thought were all reprints from the 80's HIM Library, but the one I bought is actually a new story. I use "story" loosely XD, A bunch of mercenaries are recruited for a secret mission, but don't even properly set off on it until page 99.
