The best artists we never had

Paul Gulacy on Thunderbirds. Gene Colan on Stingray and Jack Kirby on Fireball XL5.

I'm glad someone agrees with me in not liking Peter Davidson's Broons/Oor Wullie - anaemic looking.

Jack Kirby on Fireball XL5 or Thunderbirds! Blimey riley, that would have been inspired and rather intriguing. On a different note I'd loved to have seen Brian Bolland do Faceache or even having a go at Dennis the Menace. That'd be something I'd hang above my desk (assuming I made him draw on paper).

It would have been funny if the American Dennis the menace was drawn in a special Davy Law Dennis the Menace one..or the American Dennis the Menace had our Dennis..a real cross-over..


i think John Geering showed he would have done a great Jonah for the Beano.loved his Beano comic library ones..

I'd like to have seen a whole Fireball XL5 comic drawn by Wally Wood to go with the few pieces of merchandizing art he did produce.

Well...just off the top of my head...

Kevin O'Neill drawing The Numskulls would have been great. Dave Gibbons on Doomlord (we'd probably have a movie by now!). Moebius drawing a Star Wars comic written by Alan Moore (I loved his stories in The Empire Strikes Back monthly). And, judging by his gorgeous pencils on Ragezza in Fuga, Manara would have been the ideal artist to design and draw a truly world class European superhero series....

We can dream!
