Yes, it needs a little tweaking. I think I could do better if I put some time into it.

The main thing I used that others haven't mentioned is the colour mask in Photoshop. Using the levels to bring out the blacks and lose a lot of the browning seems to shift the colour of the bleed-through (as you can see in the first image), so I used colour masks to rip out the shades I didn't want.

I think with sufficient time and effort I could fix most pages well enough to look as good as the original printed page, if not the original art.

I did notice another page I was working on included the outline of a speech balloon that had been half drawn in, but contained no text. If one were restoring the page, would you take that out to make it look better or leave it in for authenticity?

For authenticity, I would just leave any 'flaws' in, Marionette----it's all part of the charm of comics!


I remember around 2000, there was talk of deliberately removing the wires from the puppets in THUNDERBIRDS, [they were painfully evident even on lo-res black-and-white TV of the latter 1960s] but thankfully this never went ahead!


George Lucas-like tinkering with old material seems like creative vandalism to a lot of people, it seems....


Some really good efforts regarding fixing faulty bleed-through on old comics, which offers hope for the future---well done, all you people!
