Went to the ephemera fair at the Royal National and picked up some more Alan Class type comics including very rare first (and only issues?) of Startling Terror Tales and Ghostly Weird Stories both published by The Arnold Book Company. Also got Miracle Man no. 1 published by Thorpe and Porter which apparently is Spanish reprints (in English).

That's right, they are reprints. The original was titled Superhombre. The stories, or some of them, were also reprinted in The Netherlands with the title Mirakel Man.
The British one ran to 13 issues and later in the run some DC Comics reprints appeared, Blackhawk I think.
I have that Startling Terror Tales. Very nice.

...Actually Foam Bananaman was Bananaman's imperfect doppelgänger, created when he was exposed to Doctor Barratt's faulty duplicator ray! ;)

Quite a varied haul this last week:6 more Toby comics to complement my earlier half-year gain, Warlord no. 3 with free gift. My main gain is Plug comic no. 2 & 3 with respective free gifts and Bullet Sports Special from 1977, which cost me just short of £90. I'm happy :D

First issue of Tales from the TARDIS: Doctor Who. Really like a smaller version of Doctor Who Comic.
Reading comics since 1970. My Current Regulars are: 2000 AD (1977-), Judge Dredd Megazine (1990-), Spaceship Away (2003-), Commando (2013-), Deadpool and Wolverine (2023-), Quantum (2023-), Fantastic Four (2025-).

Got the remaining issues of Captain Britain weekly apart from no. 8 to complete the series. The problem with no. 8, it concerns Brian Braddock's sister, Elizabeth. Since she became such a big star within Marvel's X-Men series, this issue has rocketed in value even though the original character is so far removed from Alan Moore's interpretation let alone Chris Claremount's. I will have to grit my teeth and pay a heavy price for this issue in the end. Damn, why did Cap. Britain need a sister in the first place?

Finally found a copy of Playhour with Hotch Potch, the untidy scatterbrained rubbish-loving "Island of Yum" character. Until yesterday he was only the vaguest of memories, but now I realise what a hero he was to me!

Had £10 worth shopping vouchers among christmas presents so took them with me on my usual mid week town visit.
Finished up at THE WORKS sale.
They had a lot of Marvel comic books such as fantastic four ,capt America, Thor, etc but none really appealed.
They also had Game of Thrones vol 2,3,4but since they didn't have vol1 I decided not to bother.
Having dug around I finished up with these----

Viz the Otter's Pocket.
The Kite Runner a graphic novel.
Beautiful Creatures a graphic novel.
Aircraft Cutaways (not a comic but lots of fold out pages of scale drawings of world war 2 plane interiors)

Then spent £2 in another book shop and got.

CELEB the orignal gary bloke from Private Eye(A Viz size book containing short comic strip gags)

Went to one of my local comic shops and had a nice browse. I did not think that I would find anything, but then I found the 1980 Space Picture LibraryHoliday Special and issue three of Graphic India's Empire of Blood.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

Just got myself a copy of Jem and the Holograms, hopefully to share with my 5 yr old daughter but have heard good things of it that make me think I should enjoy it too. I was in the shop to buy my nephew an Avengers comic for his birthday - he has lots of dress-up costumes and toys relating to Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America and the like and while he's mostly going to enjoy looking at this Avengers collection rather than reading it (at his young age) he should enjoy just seeing the pictures I think. (I did check with his parents first mind you!)
jintycomic.wordpress.com/ Excellent and weird stories from the past - with amazing art to boot.
