As opposed to a marketing department's hype machine in full flow ...? The point of a forum is to discuss things from all angles, not just add to the hype, so it makes for a richer forum to have different - including critical - opinions. But it sounds exactly like comic fans chatting to me. There seems to be only goodwill towards the potential of the new Dandy itself.MikeC wrote: The positivity's getting lost, which is a shame. Fair point, I guess. I guess I would like to say it's been nice to have this forum on an up rather than a permanent down. I like comics and The Dandy, that's why I read here. I don't come back nearly as often when it's all negative.

Re: Dandy Relaunch THIS WEDNESDAY!!!
I fail to see how my earlier post was negative... I was just expressing my huge surprise that, so far, there hadn't been any 'teasers' on DC Thomson's websites...
I'm a comic fan. I've read The Dandy since 1978... I want it to enjoy a new life.
And yes, I do working in publishing and I'm very happy doing it. I'm glad that the Dandy publicity machine is finally going to kick in tomorrow. Good luck to everybody involved in it. I'm genuinely excited to see (and buy) the revamped title.

My comment wasn't aimed at you at all, Mr Sheridan, just the general downbeatness which had developed after almost unlimited optimism on the original Dandy thread.
Raven mentioned your name as someone who worked in publishing, which is where the connection occurred, I think.

I see what Mike means, although as you're a new member you might not know that there has been a lot of negativity towards the Dandy on this forum over the years, predictions of its closure etc. So some of us are a bit over-sensitive when we think things are heading that way again, especially on the eve of a relaunch.
I've been reading The Dandy since January 1964 (except for a few years in the mid to late 1970s) and I'm in the new version so I share your enthusiasm to see how things turn out.

That's fine... let's hope the publicity tomorrow is exciting and clever and gets everybody talking about The Dandy again.
The anticipation is killing me!
Of course if Lew Stringer isn't drawing an updated version of Ken Harrison's Rah Rah Randall, I'll be furious (...just kidding).
(By the way I have been sneakily reading this forum for ages, but I felt it was about time I joined in the fun! I'm glad to be here at last!)

Doesn't appeal at all, but a strip along the lines of Corporal Clott but with a different profession... maybe.Mr. Sheridan wrote: Of course if Lew Stringer isn't drawing an updated version of Ken Harrison's Rah Rah Randall, I'll be furious (...just kidding).

Lew's drawing Harry Hill's sidekick, Blurp the Shadow Pig.
Re: Dandy Relaunch THIS WEDNESDAY!!!
Perhaps Blurp will be hosting a comic version of Harry's show: TV Blurp. I expect it's all in shadow so actors can't sue over their likenesses being used.

Almost everything 'Bleeding cool' reports about the Dandy above is incorrect. As usual. If anyone is interested in reading the facts behind a certain newsworthy item i suggest you have a look elsewhere for them.

That won't stop Digital Spy repeating it:NP wrote:Almost everything 'Bleeding cool' reports about the Dandy above is incorrect. As usual.

and adding:
"Publisher DC Thomson has also confirmed that Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson will appear on the cover of a future issue."
Re: Dandy Relaunch THIS WEDNESDAY!!!
Jeremy Clarkson may be on the cover of an extremely imminent issue.

Re: Dandy Relaunch THIS WEDNESDAY!!!
Even though I enjoy Top Gear, Clarkson is a complete
I really wouldn't want kids to aspire to someone like that. The irony present throughout Top Gear (a bunch of sad old blokes talking about 'what's cool' for instance) will be completely lost on kids, whereas the nasty bullying selfish element (done as a joke but a bit too subtle for kids) won't be.
I'll be very disappointed if that's confirmed.

What makes you automatically assume Clarkson will be depicted as someone to aspire to? This is The Dandy of 2010, not the Eagle of 1950.chrissmillie wrote:Even though I enjoy Top Gear, Clarkson is a completeI really wouldn't want kids to aspire to someone like that.
