Translation (just to be boring!): they've been given a larger budget now that the Dandy has ceased publication.

I dream sometimes what the Beano would have been like if it had had a larger budget!

I love the surreal newsagent gag by Nigel in Dennis and Gnasher...also there are more strips this week..
Some of the strip gags are a bit old!! But new to young readers.. :)
Very good Rashers...and Grandpa is in the background...
Very impressed with Billy Whizz in the old style..

16 extra pages with longer Dennis, Minnie, Roger, Bash Street and Billy strips with more mini strips. This weeks £2 is gonna be money well spent. :D

Also Peter you say Rashers, does that mean some of the mini strips appear twice next week?

I'm glad to see the 52 pages are being used better this time around - whilst I love The Bash Street Burp, knowing there'll more comic strips in next week's edition is very refreshing. I hope these 52 page specials become a regular thing now - kinda like the brilliant 44 page Dandys we had every half-term. :) Ah, I miss the print Dandy. :(

It certainly does seem to be that The Dandy's loss has become The Beano's gain.

Beano page count increased!
The Beano no. 3673 goes on sale tomorrow! It includes 44-pages of laughs, giggles and guffaws, plus a very snazzy Menace mask that blows a raspberry at the pull of a tab! Member of the Beano team, John, agreed to model it for a sticky toffee muffin.

Great issue of The Beano again, and I must say it is also great to see that its becoming less PC.

I'm referring to Walters girly side slightly coming back out when Dennis leaves him a pink go-kart, Billy's possible ADHD and Bananaman's comment that other places deserve to be destroyed over London.

Bah, this week's issue is no-show. I would've assumed it was a delay due to the bank holiday but for two weird things - firstly, WHSmith had so many copies of last week's left that they looked like they hadn't sold any. You'd expect that for a newly released issue, but not when they should've been replaced already. The second one is the kicker though. A subscriber complained on the Beano Facebook page they got the same issue two weeks running. Did anyone, subscriber or not, get hold of a copy yet?

Same in Rotherham I'm afraid, although My Local Newsagents told me it wasn't even on the lists to arrive today and last weeks Beano wasn't on the recall list.

None around here either. My nearest Tesco has a fresh stack of last week's issue instead.

Distributors holding them back due to Easter perhaps. Hopefully they'll be out tomorrow.

I hope that's the reason, but the fact a subscriber got a duplicate issue and shops seem to have fresh supplies makes me suspicious (it almost sounds as if the early batches of what should've been this week's issue are reprints of last week's!). Thing is, both last week's issue and the Facebook page say it is due out today. If they're going to delay it, they need to say so. No-one would complain if we know in advance.

As Spencer said in the comment before yours, copies of the correct issue are in some shops. What that tells me is that the delayed distribution has only affected some areas. It's likely The Beano office didn't know of the delay, which is why they didn't mention it. Wholesalers and distributors are a law unto themselves sometimes as we've experienced before with other comics.

If you call the DC Thomson freephone helpline there's a recorded message saying that some titles are delayed due to the Bank Holiday.

The correct issue of The Beano will be out everywhere tomorrow or Friday I expect.

It happened last year round bank holidays with The Beano and The Dandy. I can remember some issues coming late on a Thursday.
