Belated Happy Christmas to everyone. This Christmas I didn't get anything comic related as I didn't spot anything on Ebay that I needed. I did however get some non-comic related presents (some of which were presents to myself!) as follows:
1. 'North By Northwest' 4K (1959) - we watched it last night on my projector, fantastic film.
2. Ingrid Pitt Autograph on a nice photo from 'The Vampire Lovers' (1970)
3. Laurel and Hardy Year Two 1928 blu ray (still in the post) - for which I provided some posters, lobby cards and other still images which the producers used in the booklet, sleeve art and a stills gallery
4. Looney Tunes Vol 4 Collector's Series blu ray (still in the post)
5. 'When Dinosaurs Roamed America' & 'Valley Of The T-Rex' blu ray (upgrade on DVD copy) - still in the post
6. A book titled 'Symbols of Power : Napoleon and the Art of the Empire' - book on Napoleonic antiques and objects - still in the post
7. An antique french clock from around 1820 - to be posted later this week.
I avoided getting most of my presents posted prior to Christmas as I had 3 parcels with damaged contents (2 x Walt Disney Treasures DVD tins dented and even an empty box which was supposed to contain a Walt Disney Treasures DVD sent to me! - all refunded thankfully) in early December so opted to have the rest posted after Christmas instead.
On point 3:Excellent work Chalky, how did you get involved in the project?
And on point one....You have a projector ? That's serious film stuff.
I've been a huge cinema buff for many years, about 35 years ago I joined the Sons Of The Desert - the Laurel and Hardy Appreciation Society as I was such a huge L&H fan. I've collected thousands of high resolution film stills, posters, lobby cards and through the Society came to converse with some of the people who worked with L&H and also some people who are now working to restore their films from 35mm film in a lot of cases. I had some images which were relevant to the stills galleries which they didn't have. I also put the producers in contact with a gent who's father shot a 16mm home movie on the set of one of their 1928 silent films and they agreed to borrow the film, restore it high resolution and include it as a bonus feature.
I bought a DVD projector in 2004 and upgraded to 4K 3D multi region bluray about 2 years ago, we watch all our films on a 2.40m horizontally wide screen. The screen is on a tripod so all the equipment can be stored away after use. It takes about 20 mins to set up and I only take it out at weekends. I also have special 3D DLP glasses which give a true 3D experience. When I win the lotto we'll move house and have a dedicated permanent cinema room!

What great presents, Chalky. North By Northwest is one of my favourite Hitchcock films.
Hope you had a nice Christmas and a belated Happy New Year.
Reading comics since 1970. My Current Regulars are: 2000 AD (1977-), Judge Dredd Megazine (1990-), Spaceship Away (2003-), Commando (2013-), Deadpool and Wolverine (2023-), Quantum (2023-), Fantastic Four (2025-).
For the The Beano book showing Little Plum leapfrogging over Dennis the Menace, i have a similar Robert Harrop figurine on my mantlepiece.
Thanks SID.
Loving the pic of those ornaments.
Thanks, Abyss.
Looks like your brother gave you a brilliant Christmas.
And a Happy belated New Year.

Happy New Year!
Thank you very much for such a detailed reply Chalky.
I am extremely envious of your absolutely brilliant cinema set up and it is my dream to have something similar, I hope it happens one day but we would have to first move to a larger flat/house.
I think it is excellent that you have helped with the L and H films and whilst I enjoy and have some on DVD, a close friend of mine is a massive fan and he said that it is people like you that really do deserve plaudits for selflessly sharing archive treasures for fans like him to enjoy and he asked me to thank you.

Thanks jim44,
My copy of the 1928 L&H blu ray coincidentally arrived in the post today. You and your buddy have excellent taste in comedy!

Will do SID. Only listed half of what I received. Had some nice signed Beano & Dandy comic reference books too.
Update: Okay, here's the rest of the annuals that I had for Christmas. Largely a mixture of 50s/60s/70s with one from 1980. All unclipped in FN - to FN condition. Some dedicated, most not inscribed. All with complete near perfect spines. I'll have to dig out the other books (reference) another day.
