All the Bob Nixon artwork I have seen was submitted in line only, then coloured in-house.

Re: This week's issue
The "revised" date is actually for the retail trade - it's the recall date. The date for that issue would be unchanged. We have the same on Dandy.

Re: Barack Obama in the Beano
Sorry for any confusion, Raven. I was largely agreeing with your previous post where I think you said that a usage being deemed acceptable didn't make it right.
I do think that "noone" is now an acceptable usage (maybe I should say an accepted usage), but for me "no-one" is the preferred form ...

Re: Barack Obama in the Beano
My own opinion can be gauged by our preference for "no-one" in The Dandy.

Re: Barack Obama in the Beano
OED has a very strict sense of what's acceptable and what isn't and often lags well behind when considering common usage.
As Laura says, "noone" is in common usage with publishers both here and across the pond, and industry usage guides vary in their instructions, hence my opinion that it is, in ...

Re: Barack Obama in the Beano
Not speaking for The Beano here, but on The Dandy we looked into this quite recently.
"Noone", "no-one" and "no one" are all acceptable. We try to go with "no-one" as it avoids the problematic pronunciation of "noone" (for young readers, at least), and "no one" seems a little antiquated.

Re: Barack Obama in the Beano
I'd like to record my heartfelt congratulations to Dennis on the occasion of his diamond anniversary. Once upon a time, in a previous life, I had the rare pleasure of working on a fiftieth anniversary Dennis book with then-Beano-Editor, Euan Kerr.

The poll will be working as soon as we can have it fixed.
I say "have it fixed" because we are not coders/webbers and we only know what we want to happen and when. If something goes wrong, we are dependent on other departments for support. We are trying to find resource to have it fixed.

Re: This weeks Dandy
Spencer,
Thanks for the reply - it's a bit out of my hands, I'm afraid. We can't influence stores on how well they choose to present their products. Maybe a word with the news team? You are their customer, after all. Oh, and keep your eyes peeled in The Beano... ;)
Love the covermount suggestion ...

Re: This weeks Dandy
You should've seen them in my local newsagent. They're on the front shelf, and every single copy had the covers bent out of shape. If it was displayed prominently everywhere, such a measure wouldn't have been required.

Re: Dandy & Beano on Radio Scotland
Thanks for the feedback, always valuable.
We've really focussed on single pages to inject as much variety as we can, and also to keep the pace up, which is why only one or two stories stretch to more than that. However, look out for Feb 19 and 26 (Feb 19 on sale tomorrow), which both feature 2 ...

Re: next weeks dandy
nigel says on his blog "And then, start saving up because NEXT week's BUMPER Dandy is £2.50 with EXTRA pages and a "free gift"! ...
Speech marks presumably indicating irony, though.
Exactly.
As I said, the comic itself does not call them free gifts, or anything similar.
Thanks, Lew ...

Re: Dandy & Beano on Radio Scotland
Interesting, you guys know about meetings between the characters whereas, the editors only seemed to know about one. And that was just an illo. Perhaps a wee email to them would improve their knowledge of their own comics histories?
I will fully admit to not knowing of these instances - however ...
