Re: What The Papers Say

If you are considering reading comics digitally I recommend a tablet . I bought a Samsung Galaxy TAB 2 which is great for reading digital comics. The screen is bigger than most i-pads and you can "pinch" the screen to enlarge parts of the page to admire the artwork in more detail. Haven't looked int...

Re: What are you collecting right now...your aims..

I'm attempting to rebuild my Scorcher n Score collection. Had a full set in the 70's but threw them away circa 1980 to create some space. :-(

Re: Preserving comics

I have mine in comic boxes on ikea shelving - takes up three walls in the spare room (though that also includes sci fi and football mags). Some are bagged but I have never been too convinced about the preservation qualities of bags (+ they mean less comics per box as they do take up room) - I comfor...

Re: Google greeting

You have to type in Comics UK Forum Andy, not just Comics UK. If I type Comics UK I get the same as you - if I type in Comics UK forum the top site I get is headed Forum - Comics UK with the message I quoted undernesth that. The next site is the main Comics UK page with the message you quote. I am j...

Re: Reading or collecting

That's a good point re multilated comics ISPYSHHHGUY. The original owners of the comics we love to collect were children - probably not the best curators in the world! Even though I was only five when I first started keeping my comics the temptation to cut out certain sections (posters, toys etc) wa...

Re: Reading or collecting

"nobody has a right to own or read these things." I must admit that I find this a rather strange standpoint to take. Of course it isn't a "right" but surely the creators of these strips wanted their work to be seen by as many people as possible. If I were an author or a comic strip artist I would lo...

Re: Reading or collecting

Just read the Comics on CD-ROM posts (sorry, I'm new on here) so now I understand your comment Marionette (personally I very much agree with a lot of what you say there). As it was, I was only intending to debate the collecting v reading issue, stressing that I believe that comics are meant to be re...

Re: Reading or collecting

No fire & brimstone yet Marionette :-)

I'm certainly not doing anything illegal - I have a problem re storage space and I've had a few people thank me on e-bay when I've sold my old comics, for helping to fill gaps in their collection.

Everyone's happy.

Re: Reading or collecting

I too think comics should be for reading , and have embraced the scanned comics available too - not only for reasons of storage space but for portability and filling in gaps too. I can understand those who prefer the physical copy, but I would have thought that scans would increase the availabilty o...
