Re: Primo Marcarini's exhibition

Thanks for posting this, Sdeng.

In case it's of interest, here's an example of his UK comic work.

Re: Unknown Roy of the Rovers artists

Sorry to be a pain, Nick, but I think your Modesty Blaise example is by Enrique Badia Romero. Here's an example of Neville Colvin from the same series.

Re: Bob Harvey

Good luck with this, but I think you will find it heavy going. As far as I know little or nothing is known about him. You may like to know though that your sample is not from a comic called PAM. The series “Pam of Pond Hill” was published in Jinty and Tammy comics. More information about the series ...

Re: Some help with a Princess magazine

I think your Diana story "Topspin Terry" sounds a definite possible, Phoenix. Diana seems to have been a direct rival to Princess in the early 60's, and it had a similar magazine-like look with a big tabloid format and lots of high-quality colour artwork. It would probably be quite easy to get the t...

Re: Some help with a Princess magazine

I'm afraid you may have a problem with this. I've been through the 120-odd Princesses which I have, and haven't found this or any other mention of tennis. Early Princesses followed a fairly simple formula, and the stories and features about sport etc activities were almost entirely confined to balle...

Re: Trying to find 2 stories from 80s comics

The stories are "Her Finest Hour" and "Party Girl", both from the Judy Annual 1982. Here's a link to a blog post which has more on both stories:

Re: Looking for the original of a Spanish published strip

Yes. Summer Specials were published in the same year as that named on the issue, Annuals in the year before. The 1983 Annual was published at the beginning of September 1982.

Re: Looking for the original of a Spanish published strip

Yes, there seems to have been a series. There was another story in the 1983 Annual. There was also a series of stories in the Bunty Summer Specials: 1981 (at which point the series was called "Super Mutt"), 1982 and 1983. This suggests that there was also a series in the weekly Buntys, probably some...

Re: Looking for the original of a Spanish published strip

The story is "Wonderwoofa" from the Bunty Annual 1984. Details of the Annual, and a matching panel from the story, are here:

I'm afraid I can't help with biographical information on the artist, which you may find hard to come by.

The second story is "...The Portraits" from Mandy Annual 1985. Here's an extract:

Happy to post the rest of the story if you wish.

Re: Looking to ID 2 early/mid-80s annual stories

The Four Marys story was in the Bunty 1982 Annual. I can't place the other story at the moment, but I'll have a hunt for it.

You could try imgur, which I've been using since tinypic shut up shop. It's free and doesn't need registration. It's a bit messier to handle than tinypic but seems to work OK.

I came across this online. It seems to be from an old ebay sale but I couldn't find a larger version. It does confirm that the brooch came with Mandy. As far as I can make out, the date is late 1981 or 1982 - maybe a 1981 Halloween issue?

Re: Submitting comics to the gallery

Thank you Goof. I have looked through old emails, including deleted and spam, and cannot find the one that you sent. However, I have adjusted the Specials Gallery as you have detailed. I have kept the 'revised' 1967 Special as a query until we know for sure, but I agree with you about the masthead ...
