Tough of the Track characters

A correspondent on http://www.toughofthetrack asked a question about two characters he recalls from the past.

Wilf Willoughby & Flapper Farmer.

Anyone heard of them or know anything about which storylines they appeared in ?

As to the original question, Flapper Farmer was a regular character used in the story line "In The Army Now!" where Alf joins the Royal Artillery as a way of getting in some decent running against some snotty ne'er do wells. And he also appeared in "The Fastest Fireman in Brassingford" where Flapper encourages Alf to join the Fire Brigade to help the station team go from a earnest but unwinning relay team to beat the best of the Fire Brigade.

Flapper got his nickname from the way his arms flapped around as he ran.

Wilf was also a regular, but at the minute having trouble getting to my comics as we are in the midst of a revamp of the house, so can't give as much detail on him.

While this story does not feature either character, I thought that people might like to look at one of Alf's last adventures. This one comes from the 1993 Victor annual.
