Yeah, I wanted it to be a longer strip too.
My local shop didn't have the new Beano on Wednesday, so I asked them and they said it would be in on Thursday. It wasn't and it still isn't. The other shops near me don't have it either.
Has it been delayed?

Re: Gnipper
The absence of Super School last week wasn't due to the flu as we work several weeks in advance. That one was missing because the emailed art went astray. Sadly my flu and family commitments have meant that the strip will be missing again in about three or four weeks.Peter Gray wrote:

Re: Gnipper
No, it came out on Wednesday as usual. However, shops do seem to be cutting back their orders. My local Smiths has recently cut back from five copies to three and now to two. Plus their new displays mean Beano, Dandy, and Beano Max are now on the top shelf out of the reach of children. Madness! (Not that I ever see kids buying their own comics in town these days due to paranoid parents not letting them out on their own.)David wrote:Yeah, I wanted it to be a longer strip too.

Thanks. I did manage to get it eventually from Sainsbury's whilst doing my shopping. They only had the one though.

Re: Gnipper
Looks like were in for a nice long story ala 'whos nicked gnasher' from the late eighties! im loving the story.
Best thing about it is that its Tom Paterson although slightly of topic did anyone notice the different drawing style in this weeks 'singled out - winston' its closer to mike pearce than himself nothing like his old bash street kids stuff, someone else inking his stuff for him or something?

Re: Gnipper
My guess is Tom's been asked to draw it a la Mike, same as Nigel and Kev. I much prefer the (Dave) Sutherlandish version.

Re: Gnipper
It seems likely, as fantastic as Mike Pearse and as amazing as the Bash Street Kids album is I would rather see Tom Paterson do it himself, in his style. Anyway the Gnipper story continues today will have to see how it develops! Not quite gripping the nation as much as the Gnasher storyline of years ago, weres Mike Read when you need him eh?
Re: Gnipper
Hear, hear, Steve. It's just a bit odd, especially since Nigel (and, for that matter, Dave Eastbury) got so much closer to Mike's style.
I think next episode we'll discover we desperately need Gnancy.

Re: Gnipper
And Gnancy saves the day, but we have to pay 25p more for it? Very disappointing, but I suppose that's just the way of it.

Re: Gnipper
No Gnancy didnt save the day! her blood didnt match either! My moneys on Gnasher been the right one and getting the pups was just a waste of time! I havnt got the Beano today yet so dont know the outcome, I think it is worth it its a great story and Tom P does a top job, has the Beano gone up 25p then?
Re: Gnipper
Gnancy did save the day, and next week's issue should be £1.25. Speaking of prices, the Dandy Xtreme (with an over growing Xtreme logo) is also up to £2.60 this issue.
Comic Genius Runner Up 2006
About that price...
You think £1.50 is bad? This week's issue is £1.99 - as that's Dandy Xtreme's cover price, I'd have expected 3 free gifts, which is the minimum the Dandy ever has, not just 2, and four extra pages, taking it to 36, the same as Dandy! It didn't, so it's a rip off in my book.
I suspect it wasn't Alan Digby's decision either. Probably the DCT big bosses fault.
