There was a character, I believe in Radio Fun, who always use to 'sign off' with, "Daft I call it, what's for tea ma"? Can anyone remember that characters name?

Or did it appear in the old Knockout(1940's- early 60's era)?
Was it called 'Our Ernie'? The adventures of a small boy
Didn't his dad say "Daft I call it" at tha end of every strip?
I've just had a look in the annual section of this site and there's a kid on some of the Knockout covers that looks like the one I'm thinking of.

This was Our Ernie (full name Ernie Entwhistle)who was obviously a Northern lad appearing in the Knockout. At the end of every strip Ernie would ask "what's for tea mum?" whereupon his mum would reply "bangers & mash" or whatever & Dad inthe corner whilst sucking on his pipe would remak "Daft I call it."
