The DANDY annual is just that, not a Dandy Xtreme annual. Largely strips throughout and all the various styles.

It was the bears on the Dandy cover that gave it away for me!
I'd be very surprised if the Dennis annual wasn't coming out - it just looks like Amazon haven't got it yet.

You're jumping to conclusions again folks.Digifiend wrote:No Dennis annual? What's going on here?![]()
I thought they'd ditch the Bash Street one before the Dennis annual,as Dennis has had his longer.

Loving the new annuals. Any idea of the content of the Bash Street Kids annual? Last year's Mike Pearse book was a high, and of course there wouldn't have been time to assess whether the quantity turned into sales before they had to print this year's. I'm hoping it turned out to be a hit so next year they go Pearse/well-written long strips again.

Thank goodness for that Lew. Although I'm still confused as to why the other covers have been revealed and not that one.
Kev, maybe they'll print your material as the 2011 Bash Street annual! I mean, you effectively replaced Mike.

Just found that the Korky picture isn't ghosted, it's from the cover of the 1957 Dandy Book. I'd still like to know where the snowmen came from though.Digifiend wrote:I'd like to know who drew the snowmen cover, as it's good ghosting of Dudley Watkins (Dan, Biffo, Snooty), David Law (Dennis), Leo Baxendale (Minnie), and James Crighton (Korky).

Re: The 2010 Annual Covers!
On the subject of The Dennis Annual - it's a Dennis & Gnasher Annual this year to coincide with the launch of the new series on CBBC. It's a nice padded effort featuring a scene from the title sequence from the series. Nigel P. and Barrie Appleby drew the stories in the book. Not sure why the image of the cover hasn't been made available.
Re: The 2010 Annual Covers!
Considering you drew for it, you obviously knew all along that the cover simply hadn't been released yet!NP wrote:Notice though there's no Dennis annual there? Any ideas?
Thanks for the info about the Dennis annual Euan.
Re: The 2010 Annual Covers!
Just because NP drew stuff for it doesn't mean that it didn't get cancelled for some reason - see the Beezer Annual 2004 (unpublished).
In saying that, I found it impossible to believe that it was cancelled

Re: The 2010 Annual Covers!
Oh yeah, which we know about because of the Banana Bunch story (also by NP) which ended up in Dandy Annual 2005.

Re: The 2010 Annual Covers!
By the sound of it this year's Dennis annual won't be reprints and will be styled after the new TV series. This is perhaps a bit of shame for us, as David Parkins' work was fantastic to see in the book. Good choice of Barrie Appleby and Nigel Parkinson to draw the annual strips. It will be fascinating to see what Tom Paterson does if he's asked to draw the new look Dennis, as I don't think it would especially suit his style. Still don't like Jimmy Hansen's Beano annual cover...
Surely they can't cancel the Dennis annual with the TV series coming out? Not that I think they will anyway.

They aren't cancelling it, didn't you read Mr Ed's post properly? By saying it was linked to the TV show, he effectively also said it was definitely happening, but expressed confusion over why we haven't seen the cover.

Re: The 2010 Annual Covers!
Yes, I did read Mr Ed's post properly! I was just saying that it would be ridiculous if there was no Dennis annual, which is now clearly not the case, and was never likely to be the case either.
If they were to drop either the Dennis or Bash St Kids annual (not suggesting this will happen), I think they'd drop the BSK book first, as the kids have never appeared on TV (though they have in the Beano videos), yet the third series of Dennis and Gnasher will be airing in two months. Also, the Dennis annual has run for longer, but these days that makes no difference. If it did, the Dandy would never have turned 'Xtreme'.

EFA. You do use a lot of pejorative language, Digifiend!Digifiend wrote: Probably for the same reason as Egmont decided not to launch a Toxic annual.
