Grange Hill by Nigel Parkinson

In my storage unit I came across the first issue of Fast Forward published by the BBC. They had previously published a magazine called Beeb as a answer to Look-In and it lasted for a good run but it finished and was replaced by this title. Here is a chance to see the first Grange Hill strip by Nigel P.

The cover mentions Flintstones and Allo Allo - who drew those?

Gah! The start of seven miserable years drawing Grange Hill. I was promised it would be for 12 weeks when I began.
Andy Hunt drew 'Allo 'Allo but I don't remember who drew the Flintsones. It wasn't a reprint though, it was drawn specially for Fast Forward.

Miserable? Admittedly, it does seem different to your later work, since you had to make the characters resemble their TV counterparts. Is that what you didn't like about it? Thanks for identifying the Allo Allo artist.

I prefer to draw in a 'Beanoy' style (ie not realistically, but not that cartoony). When I draw real people, I always find it difficult to get the expressions right. Maybe you find it the same Nigel? (Though you are a lot better a cartoonist than I am!)

Please restate your request in English. (I mean could you specify what top strips means - could be anything from the last 100 years - not meaning to be sarcastic).

I'll have a look at that Flintstones strip later. i have a bundle of half tabloid sized Flintstone and Yogi Bear strips in full colour, they were syndicated US strips and were published in a local paper in the sixties. Got them in the flea market a few years back.

My dear fellow it would be a wheeze to see more ...what.. what.. from Fast Forward..like Allo Allo and the Flintstones..cheers...pip pip..

There are several strips in Fast Forward most of them drawn by Hunt. Gordon Gopher being one and also there is Bread - the Liverpudlian comedy series. Will put them on later.
