Oh no! My last post didn't show up. The problem obviously is not fixed. :x I'll have to repeat myself.

I discovered last week, Digi, that what one person finds amusing, another might just find irritating. Anyway, why would Lew not want to place his work, even in a fantasy comic? Drawing cartoons is his career when all is said and done.

I know, I wasn't joking, but stating the obvious omission. The smilie was big grin, not LOL.

Anyway, the post also somehow restored Lew's earlier post which had vanished before. Did Al ever find out why that was happening in the other thread?

Don't know if you knew this but brand new Tank Girl strips have been in the Judge Dredd Megazine for the last 12 months or so.

thanks Lew - wasn't aware, I'll have to look out for it in WH Smith to see how it compares :)

Well if we're going with complete pipe dreams it would be a new version of The Hotspur (i just like the name), around the size of Chums, on newsprint with single-picture covers. Inside would be a mixture of comic strips and text stories (with short funny cartoons like in old newspapers on the text pages). Characters would include a revived Sexton Blake, Greyfriars from The Magnet (permenantly stuck in 1910 still) and Doctor Who (in storylines akin to the TV show, not infantile cack trying to be funny). Robin Hood, King Arthur, Sherlock holmes would also make appearances, along with new and original characters set in modern times and the future, naturally. The paper would also, like The Eagle, not talk down to it's audience, but rather be high and mighty and encourage them to "read up" to it's level. Oh and there would be those excellent cutaways too!

Apart from a few named exceptions (like Dan Dare) they now own most of the Fleetway characters that appeared up to the end of the 1960s. I forget the exact details but I think this situation came about almost by accident as the result of a routine takeover by their parent corporation Time-Warner. Unfortunately, following the less than earth-shattering response to Albion, DC don't seem to have any further ideas about what to do with them - nor do they show any sign of caring.

Maybe someone will show interest and buy the characters off them and do something with them. You never know. :xfingers:

I happened to take a look (after a long time in a box) at the 4-issue Steel Claw series printed by Quality Comics, and I wanted to ask, was there ever an actual Return of the Claw story printed (it was announced at the end of the 4th issue), or it was intended to be but was never published?

The BBC featured it on the Comics Britannia website. It appeared in Valiant in October 1971 drawn by Jesus Blasco.

Return of the Claw started in the 5th June 1971 issue of Valiant and Smash! and ran for quite a while; till around September/October-ish 1973, I think.

Goes back to my original suggestion in my first post (or simply bring back the Beezer revamped?).

Very true and I for one would love the old Dandy back.

But then again the very fact that the Dandy still survives means that there are kids out there today who reads/enjoys it and isn't that the purpose of comic in the first place?

I think what your asking is, did Quality Comics produce 'Return Of the Claw' in like another 4 part Mini series, at the back of the last issue No.4 produced in 1986 it has this picture, and I'm sure that the answer is no they didn't otherwise I would have known about it.
