I didn't hear the match on Five Live as I was at the comic mart and forgot to watch Match of the Day 2 but wouldn't be surprised ifat least one commentator had used the Roy of the Rovers comparison. Apparently City got the equaliser on 90 minutes - game over - a draw. Then 4 minutes of injury time were added and, on 95 minutes and 27 seconds, who but Michael Owen should get the winner. A player we all thought was washed up through numerous time outs through injury. If it had featured in the Tiger we might have thought it far fetched.
United and City too, good football comic names.

That only happened because the ref didn't keep time properly. I support Man U, but I admit this match should've been a 3-3 draw, the game should've been over before Owen's goal.

Yes but i think the refs are under instructions to keep playing until United score. Lets hope it comes out on dvd i'd like to see it.

Apparently a substitution caused 30 seconds to be added, but I can't work out where they got 7 minutes from when it should be 5 at the most. Ah well. While I do like it when United win, I'd prefer it if it was done by the book! That means no phantom added time from the referee.

It's nothing like ROTR if Manchester United win! I hate them myself, and was happy to see Barca play them off the park in the European Cup final (yes, I know it's called the Champions League nowadays, but the old name was better).

Both me and my older brother have followed Man U since around 1992, I think my brother did so because my Dad supported Leeds, and I just followed suit. Digi - If your Dad supported Leeds why did you and your brother support Man Utd, weren't Leeds and Man Utd major rivals (in the days when Leeds were brilliant)?? Anyway I always assumed Melchester Rovers were supposed to be Man Utd did anyone else think that? - and Bobby of the Blues team Everpool (well pretty self explanatory really - although to me he looke dlike Osgood of Chelsea) whilst Princes Park (Hotshot Hamish Team) were possibly Partick Thistle, and Lags Elevens Bankhurst Prison were Millwall ( ). The most obvious comic team (and again my memory has let me down on the characvter/strip) was in the Victor comic when Glasgow Rangers were doing well, and spending millions £ on players from England, Holland, Germany, Denmark ( not the very best but some great players and for the time it was new to the UK ) in the late 80s - mid 90s - there was a strip with a Team called the Royals (subtle or what for Rangers) - Anyone think of any others?
