South Bank Show memories...now that it has ended..

I suppose the theme tune and the graphics do stay in the mind..
recorded a Ronnie Corbett profile...
also watched the Victoria Wood revisited which was good..interesting that she doesn't do too much stand up partly as she doesn't want to talk about the divorce in her act..

Also liked the recent artist profile on David Hockney..

Though admitedly a lot of South Bank was a bit too high brow for me..But now and again watched it.

I remember the episode of the show where Nick Park was the guest and they looked at all his work and Aardman Animations. They even recreated Melvyn Bragg in plasticine! I really enjoyed that one, I've kept it on tape.

Also, in that episode (relating this to comics!), Nick describes how he loved the Beano as a boy and Peter Lord states that he's talked many times with him about how Wallace and Gromit's world is Beanotown.

Just watched some of it on youtube I also remember it..
In the program Flushed Away was promoted..
Flushed Away the new cgi film by Aardman did just that..went down the drain..and ended there partnership of Dreamworks and Aardman..
Maybe SouthBank show should have revisited Aardman before it ended..too late now..

Aardman is still very much on the go. Have a look at their Wikipedia article - Flushed Away is in the past.

I think Peter means before The South Bank Show ended, not before Aardman ended. As you correctly stated, Aardman are indeed still around. If they weren't then Wallace and Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death would never have been released.

It's important to remember that Nick Park had no involvement in Flushed Away. I never watched it but from what I saw it didn't look like it was on the same level as Chicken Run or the Wallace and Gromit films (both of which I think are great). It seemed strange that Aardman were going into CGI, and also the animation style was sort of 'pinched' from Nick Park as he didn't actually work on it - the Flushed Away cast had the very close together eyes that are a characteristic of nearly all of Nick Park's characters.

Yes I meant The South Bank Show..
They did a revisited series and it would have been nice to see Aardman now..

Yes, I enjoyed that one too. I remember seeing another funny one of the npower ads a few weeks ago where they were watching a horror film called 'Revenge of the Killer Watt'.
