Just to say i dreamt I was working for The Dandy..

I was thinking as there is a fan art section whether to have a comic strip section where we create a celebrity comic strip Dandy style..for all to see..

The Dandy's been pretty well stocked here in Portsmouth, Smiths had loads, and some smaller newsagents are selling out, which is good. But then, it might just be all my chums buying them :D

Oh! And as it's Halloween, I thought I'd offer a sneaky-peek at the second, spookily-themed Dandy character I've got coming up - meet Boo!

Andy, what a shame that wasn't in this week's issue, would've been appropriate considering it's Halloween today!

Couldn't see a single copy in my local Smiths - the comic section looked like a bomb site. Went into Tesco and they have it over the top of the newspapers with a large cardboard Dandy masthead over the top and a huge poster on the base - well done. Today's Sunday Post doesn't have an ad - missed opportunity there.

I've heard that Smiths in Bristol haven't had it in, and someone who lives in Surrey hasn't found a copy yet either, unless they all sold out on the day of launch, - a nice thought but unlikely.

And there I was thinking this relaunch had solved the distribution issues The Dandy had recently...

Eamonn Holmes in today's People newspaper:
(picture of Dan from 2004-7) In my day it had Korky the Cat and Desperate Dan, but now The Dandy has had a celebrity makeover and features Harry Hill as a character. It's a perfect match really - what with Harry already considered to be among Britain's best loved "comics".
Go read it Eamonn, you'll find it still has Dan and Korky.

He interviewed Nigel Auchterlounie on Sky News the other day about it. How soon he's forgotten.

NP! I will certainly check it out! Dandy Extreme wasn't for me-but I didn't wish it ill! I was just a bit disappointed in that, as I viewed it, DC Thomson had gone down `that road` to get a readership - which seemingly didn't work!

If you want a sneek peek at a future Dandy character head on over to my blog. I've just posted a teaser pic and made a few comments on the new Dandy too.

Cheers

About time the website was fixed. It was working on Wednesday, went down on Thursday, and has been giving persistant errors since. Shouldn't take four days to get it fixed when it had only just launched and thus should've been recently tested. I downloaded those five free comic strips on Wednesday, and I can confirm that they all come from the current issue (the only differences are the removal of the page number and the addition of a copyright notice), so there's no point downloading them if you already have the comic. I think they've done the right thing doing each individual strip seperate, as if any of the characters get dropped, they can just just replace it with something else. Whereas The Beano's sample comic is one file with several strips, and is now out of date (in fact it was rendered out of date almost immediately because it mentions Bea & Ivy, who got split up as a result of the Dennis and Gnasher makeover - it also mentions Billy the Cat, who's been dropped; Billy Whizz, who has a new artist thus making his picture obsolete; and the Beano Club, which is now closed to new members).

I grabbed a copy yesterday, and I have to say I was so impressed. Its fresh and just what was needed. It would be great for the beano and dandy rivalry to return, now that the dandy is a comic again :) .

Well done to everybody involved, a truly fantastic creation.
