I've seen this strip drawn by Arthur Ransom reprinted in Danish. One of my friends who is a great collector of Beatles-stuff has got it. Very realistic, almost photo-realistic drawings.Raven wrote:If it was a few years later (early 80s) I'd have said it sounds like the 'Story of The Beatles' comic strip from Look-In, partially reprinted in the Look-In Pop Annual.

(I'm exhausted just TYPING that! How they did it all is a miracle!)[/quote
just read this a whopping SIX YEARS LATER, Nigel: I am afraid you are jumping to conclusions once again: 'the story' I was referring to was the 'comics story' about the Beatles and not the real-life Beatles HIStory, which is quite seperate
If I MEANT 'History' I would have WROTE 'History', but this term does not appear anywhere in my original post, I can assure you.
I was writing about 'comic stories'
For example: one comics strip version of the Beatles centred around a gag played on a hotel bellhop by Ringo: this is the sort of detail I would need to pinpoint a specific story, and not the unhelpful, well-known cliches, known by almost everyone, as you have spouted in your above post of 2010.
The Beatles also appear in comic-strips like Little Annie Fanny, in scenarios of fantasy that have got nothing to do with the real-life Beatles events.
THE BEATLES also appeared in an early BILL SAVAGE STORY in 2000 AD in 1977, set in the then-future 1999, which has also got absolutely nothing to do with real-life events...there are other stories too.......this board is about comic strip stories, not simply relating Popular Music History already known by almost every Tom Dick and Harry
. Please pay attention to what I type---this is not the first time you have charged in like a bull in a China shop regarding a totally innocent posting by me.
Keep up the pedantry, though: it's highly amusing, old bean!
Dunno if you are still on the site by the way, Nigel......

I've got a funny feeling it might be this:

I'm hoping there are more pages to the story than the ones show, particularly relating to my second post.
I'm not sure if any posters on here have this particular annual, but if someone could download the whole story, I'd be eternally grateful.

The Beatles Growing Up in the Judy 1975 annual consists of three pages. See below for the entire story, Cat. If you click on each image in turn they will expand. There is absolutely no need for you to be eternally grateful.

Re: The Beatles Story
I'm always `cheesed off` when sources such as "Pointless" (BBC1 Quiz show) and others state "Please Please Me" was not a No 1 hit! The only chart it didn't hit No 1 on was the `Record Retailer` chart! Back in 1963 that chart was `NOT` official, it was a far less regarded chart than those from `New Musical Express` and `Melody Maker` The `Retailer` chart was only based on Thirty samples- yes! Thirty in early 1963. `New Musical Express` on 150 plus and `Melody Maker` sampled 245! They had P.P.M No1 as dis the `Disc` chart, `Pop Weekly` and the BBCs `Pick of the Pops` chart which had it No 1 for Three weeks! Rant over!!
A Face unclouded by thought.

Deeeeeeeeeeeep breath! Back away from the thread!
Re: The Beatles Story
Yes! Thats the one! Its the pictures of Paul struggling with his guitar, and Ringo sick in bed that clinched it!Phoenix wrote:The Beatles Growing Up in the Judy 1975 annual consists of three pages. I haven't seen this in its entirety since late 1976 in Newcastle. My other memory from reading it was somehow they were all orphans that got together!
Many thanks Phoenix. You found the source to my life-long obsession!
