If my parents had saddled me with the name Augustus Pond, I think I'd pray for a crack in the universe to swallow me up.
Or I'd legally change it to Anthrax Ghoulshadow.

Wow.. and I here I thought the members at my place really enjoyed Dr. Who! You guys seem to take the enjoyment to a whole new level! I swear my most favourite line from last season during the 2 part finale. Which was the only thing I actually watched after finding it on Youtube was the old man going 'Thank God for the Cactuses!'
Re: Matt Smith as Dr Who
Do you not have BBC America? They aired all the series 5 episodes one or two weeks after the UK first run.

I know it appeared on the SyFy channel. But I recently disconnected my cable. So I can't really watch anything now.
Re: Matt Smith as Dr Who
If I understand correctly, BBC America get first run then Syfy rerun it. So Syfy haven't aired series 5 yet. Unfortunately, Syfy is basic cable and BBCA is subscription cable, so if you've disconnected it, you'll have to buy the DVDs.

Very moving story - the child/young Kazran, Abigail having their Xmas eve trip's every year was very well acted, with the final day being xmas day. Matt Smith was wonderful, especially getting engaged to Marilyn Munroe (briefly) with the classic immortal line "Get your coat". No doubt you noticed that one xmas eve they wore Fez's.

Ha, I don't think River Song likes the Doctor wearing any hat. The series 6 preview, he says stetsons are cool... River shoots it off his head.
Was the fez merely the start of a running gag?

Re: Matt Smith as Dr Who
Final ratings are in for the Christmas episode-a very respectable 12.1 million viewers, around two million more than the overnight figures suggested, making it the fourth highest rated episode since the series came back in 2005. It was the third most watched show on christmas Day, and Matt Smith has been nominated for best actor at the National Television Awards. It appears the public still loves the show despite the many changes it's been through this year!
Re: Matt Smith as Dr Who
Third most watched on Christmas Day? I thought it was second, with only EastEnders ahead of it? At least that's what it said on BBC Text.

Finished watching it last night. What a pile of sentimental old rubbish. I have been sorely disappointed by the series since Matt came on board (although not necessarily due to him). Gone from a must-watch to meh.

I feel exactly the opposite-since the departure of Tennant and Russell T Davies, it's gone from a meh to a must watch!chrissmillie wrote:Finished watching it last night. I feel the same. I like the actors but the scripts seem a bit wet and the direction uninvolving. I'm not keen on what I'd call "magic" coming into the show either. (It's a bit late to ride the Harry Potter bandwagon.) Take the end of last series for example. Amy makes the Doctor return because... she remembers him. Gimme a break.chrissmillie wrote:Finished watching it last night. What a pile of sentimental old rubbish. I'll still watch it though to see what they do with it. I'm just sorry to see it change from being pseudo-science to fairy tale.

Re: Matt Smith as Dr Who
I thought I'd be the same as well - and I do think Matt Smith is a good Doctor - but it's just not working for me. Moffat wrote some of my favourite episodes from previous series, but series 5 had some of the worst episodes since Doctor Who's rebirth, in my opinion. I'd much rather see less of the Davies-type stuff from the latest Xmas Special and a return to the tighter stories of Silence in the Library and Blink.tony ingram wrote: I feel exactly the opposite-since the departure of Tennant and Russell T Davies, it's gone from a meh to a must watch!
