Something Old, Something New

Post by Little Squelchy Thing »

Hello, everyone!

Just thought I'd come and tease you all a bit with a little snippet of Dandy news - I'm bringing back an old, seemingly forgotten Dandy classic this year - who on earth could it be?

Start guessing...now!

I would love it to be either Greedy Pigg or Bing Bang Benny.

Yeah, I'm now starting to think of Greedy Pigg, especially after making his comeback in Lew's recent Kid Cops strip.

So George vs Dragon is an idea they've tried before. How long did this 80s version last?

George and the Dragon first appeared on 17th September 1988 (when the Dandy went up to 22p and increased to 24 pages). It was still appearing at least some of the time by April 1990 when I stopped subscribing.

Looking for evidence of that strip was the impetus to try and find the greater part of my Dandy collection, and today I finally found them where I was dreading they'd be- getting damp and mildewy in my basement! Thought I'd cleared everything important out of there years ago. Oh well, they may smell a bit musty but they can still be read, and I wasn't planning to ever sell them.

Ha! I genuinely don't recall that George and the Dragon at all! I wasn't asked to bring it back, either - I just happened to have the idea knocking about in my head and pitched it! How curious!

Also, a couple of very good guesses in this thread! :)
