From 30th. Century Comics, via Royal Mail, I received, June and School Friend Libraries #397; 401; 409 and Schoolgirls' Own Library #109. I'd been on their site looking for Sea Hunt #1 to complete my run and chanced on these. They are all Grey Ghosts stories and the S.O.L. is the text version of J.& S.F. #401 (The Elusive Grey Ghost), both having the same title although with some name changes. This all ties in nicely with the text Girls Crystals I bought in the Childrens Bookshop in the Royal Mile in Edinburgh - #711; 712; 713 and725 (all 1949) with the original story in all. I only get to 30th. Century Comics on the odd occasion I'm in London, which is a pity 'cos I love a rake through those British boxes.
Not today, but last week, a pal sold me Tales of Terror #5, Sabre Library #118 and Club Library - Secret Sercice #11. Poor stuff but I enjoy collecting pocket libraries.
Does anyone collect European pocket libraries e.g. Kriminal, Satanik, Diabolik, Super Boy, Janus Stark etc.?

On Saturday, the latest 2000AD and Judge Dredd Megazine came through the door.

Then I did get a surprise and got the latest Dandy through the post yesterday (usually I wouldn't get it until next Monday).
Reading comics since 1970. My Current Regulars are: 2000 AD (1977-), Judge Dredd Megazine (1990-), Spaceship Away (2003-), Commando (2013-), Deadpool and Wolverine (2023-), Quantum (2023-), Fantastic Four (2025-).

People may be interested to know that branches of Poundland are currently selling piles of Gary Northfield's truly wonderful Derek the Sheep book - which is amazing value, but rather a shame as it deserved to sell out at the original price (except that I don't really remember seeing it for sale anywhere! ). One branch also had a couple of copies of last year's Beano & Dandy 80s 'Heroes' collection.

Meanwhile, from The Works I bought Titan's Best of Simon and Kirby for £6.99 and DC's third 'Showcase Presents' collection of World's Finest (with lots of lovely Swan/Klein artwork) for £3.99. :)

Haven't seen that Derek the Sheep book anywhere, so I'll keep an eye out. Is it reprints from Beano and BeanoMAX?

The cover says 'as featured in The Beano' but I think these are longer stories than the strips that appeared there. Either way it's a beautiful book which I highly recommend.

Remastered and tweaked reprints. I reviewed it back when it came out, over two years ago:

If you were looking for it with the annuals, you wouldn't see it. It was usually stocked alongside the children's books with Asterix, Tin Tin, etc.

I ordered mine online when it first came out, but there were quite a few Derek the Sheep books in my local Poundland today.

I do miss the Fleetway annuals. I used to love going to the shops and buying up all I could see. :)

Over the last few days, I bought, 5 issues of Girls Crystal from 1949 plus a few American titles - Birds of Prey 8; Zatanna 9; Last Phantom 4 (which is pretty poor stuff, much like the rest of this Dynamite series) and the TPB of Victorian Undead - Sherlock holmes vs Zombies, which, in contrast to the Phantom comic, is great entertainment.

Yesterday I got issue 40 of the old series Union Jack from 1895 (though the seller described it as "20's") and The Red Moon Mystery hardback book

in London yesterday we had the Ephemera fair and the comic fair, from the first I got ten issues of Film Fun from the 1940s, 26 copies of Victorian Punch, Ten Comic Cuts from 1905/08 a Christmas Penny Popular and the Christmas 1960 Girl. At the comic fair I got 37 issues of 1890s Funny Wonder plus a copy of Pioneer (boys paper) my first of that title. My mate Steve gave me a couple of dozen of his Girls' Crystal doubles plus a Mirabelle and two Roxys - a good day.

Cor! What a bargain! I might nip out and get a few myself :)

Thanks all for the kind words about my Derek book. It's completely sold out from the publisher and the residue is obviously being dumped in Poundland, but yeah, you've would've been very lucky to have come across it in any shop during it's initial release. Let's just say I'll be extremely happy when my contract with them comes to end.

P.S. The stories are from my first few appearances in the Beano 7 years ago.
