TV ad for The Dandy from 1994

Post by Lew Stringer »

Here's a tv advert for The Dandy from 1994! It's the last one in the set of tv ads for children's products on this video:

Nice find. I can remember a different one, involving Dan and American football.

I've posted a comment (awaiting approval) correcting the guy who said no strips from his youth survives, considering that Desperate Dan has I believe never missed an issue apart from his so-called retirement after striking oil in 1997 (and even though he was absent from a couple of his stories, he was still in adverts for annuals in those issues). I also mentioned that Korky is back.

Desperate Dan missed several issues of Xtreme... but now that the Dandy is "back" we could just pretend Xtreme never happened... like the "clone saga" in Spider Man that I read about last night

Guess you won't like the finale of the 90s Spider-Man animated series then. The last two episodes feature some clones, including Scarlet Spider.

Here's another Dandy advert they had to celebrate the Dandy's Revamp in 2004.

Also here's a Beano Ad from the 1990's. It's after the Nerds' advert. :)

Ha ha! That's what it says on the video... An well... Maybe that's a lie. I reckon it was for the revamped Dandy so I'll change it. :)

Good find! I've never seen either of those ads.

Thank you, I thought to my self, I wonder if there are any more comic ads?? So I went on Youtube and was quite pleased with what I found. I wish they'd make more adverts for them, they're great!

Ah, thanks, I'll edit the post. :)

I wish some of the 1960s/70s ones would come to light. They do still exist in the archives, as some were shown on a BBC prog about tv ads, back in the late 1980s. (Unfortunately I didn't have a VCR until 1991 so missed the chance of taping them.)

Yep, that's the first new look issue from 2004. Never saw that advert, was it only shown on Scottish and Grampian?
