Celebrity Big Brother

Post by steven »

Talking of celeb related stories, Will we see Big Brother related stories in the upcoming weeks as that series has just started?

Unlikely, because the show is only on for two and a half weeks and the housemates weren't publicly announced until launch night. By the time they can prepare any strips with the correct celebrities, the show will be over. A non-celebrity version starts immediately after and will last a couple of months though, so there'll be plenty of opportunity there, if the comic survives that long (sadly, I'm not sure if it will with the latest sales figures).

Indeed, this week's Bananaman contains a mistake. It features the Dragons from Dragon's Den - but includes James Caan instead of Hilary. The new series only started a couple of weeks ago, so the strip was probably drawn before the trailer revealing the line-up change aired.

Hopefully not, as it's essentially a post-watershed show (though there are - presumably edited - repeats around midday), mostly on from 10pm next week, and will probably start focusing around the usual unsavory content, which just isn't appropriate for or relevant to the Dandy's target readership.

Is the only newspaper covering this series with any relish The Daily Star, which is owned by Richard Desmond, who also owns Channel 5? (Is The Daily Express, also owned by Desmond, featuring it, too?)

EDIT: To put the original post and our replies in context, so they make sense to people just discovering them, this line of conversation about whether CBB-related material may appear in the Dandy has been removed from the This Week's Dandy thread to its own thread in Non-Comics Discussion. (But does it belong here, especially considering Digi's comments about Bananaman, and that it changes the intention of Steven's original post?)

Why the hell was the thread split!?! That comment wasn't about BB, but about whether the Dandy would mention it.

Now I'll have to copy/paste my Bananaman comment back into the right place.

Digi, the first set of comments were about CBB, which is why I split. I am sure that some of us will comment on it. The only one that I can place is Tara Reid!

It was purely about CBB possibly being covered in the "celeb"-fixated Dandy, col - "Talking of celeb related stories *in The Dandy*, Will we see Big Brother related stories in the upcoming weeks *of The Dandy* as that series has just started?"

A CBB thread in its own right may be of interest to some, but these particular posts didn't belong in one; they make no sense out of context.

(Hmm, is colcool007 a Big Brother addict, wanting a nook to discuss the show ... ? )

(And you haven't heard of Jedward?!)

To the first point, I did watch BB1 avidly as I thought it was an interesting social experiment taking people of disparate backgrounds and putting them together for a while. Nowadays, I just google to see who's in it and then switch my BB news mode to OFF.

To the second, please don't swear at me! I have heard of them and got to give them 10/10 for parlaying stupid haircuts into multiple millions. Not bad for a couple of lads from the land of Guinness. (This is where AndyB pops up and growls at me!  )
