Raven wrote:I'd say that's one of your strongest ideas - a good tag; I could see that in a newspaper. (No need to write 'WAG!' though, I thought.)

The other strongest joke, I thought, was the toilets one - but shouldn't you have had the Ladies/Gents Portaloo on the left, and the tree on the right? As it is, we're seeing the punchline before we see the set-up.
Thanks very much, Raven, some excellent points there. I put 'wag' in as I wasn't convinced that the tail had enough action in it. I love the way how real artists are able to put motion in their art. Like eyes, tongues (and in my case, tails).

Also, I fully agree with your point on 'Comfort Break.' I re-did this one from memory, as I couldn't find the original. So, for all I know I might have done it properly first time round, but I'm clutching at straws there! :)

Wag isn't one that I have seen before and I think it is good solid work. I remember when I first saw Bogart start in the Daily Record. I didn't like the style, but as the humour shone through, I grew to like it more and more and opened my tastes to enjoy different cartooning styles. Yours I have liked instantly and I, for one, would like to see more.

After all, Schlock Mercenary, The Dreamland Chronicles, PvP, Penny Arcade and The Whiteboard started off as webcomics because they could not break into the papers and are now turning a modest profit for their creators. And I almost forgot Rainbow Orchid!
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

That's very nice of you to say so, ColCool007. It's been deliberately drawn as simplistic as possible to cut out any over-complicated (and time-consuming) compositions. It takes long enough as it is, and I'm a lazy sod. It actually should leave plenty of room to expand, when confidence allows it, to have one-off elaborate versions. Which should stand out more because it isn't expected, rather than viewers being used to it.

So, because it's been on my brain all day (Jamie Smart said on twitter that he befriended a dog which made me think of this), and I wanted to do it before the weekend started....

Your strip has potential. MMi: it's simplicity is probably it's strength. It looks nicely 'animated' and not stiff like a lot of unpublished stuff---hope you will keep up the interest in doing this!

The lettering is nice and clear as well. I also like how the similar-looking frames are not simply digital copies, with token tweaks, like so much new material.

Young Freddy, Whizzkid and all you young guys---it's always good to see your new efforts.

Maxi's Taxi is a sound new departure.

You mean Cabbie? I was comparing it to an old Beano strip called Maxi's Taxi, hardly new!

That's another excellent point. You'll notice the very first one I put up is exactly that. The same sketch repeated twice. My only defence to that is the other point you mentioned, it was brand new to me at the time, and I just wanted it done. A hint to that laziness I often refer to.

I must say, I'm enjoying the constructive criticism, it's exactly what I was hoping for.

I'm not convinced with the Blampot typeface just yet, I just needed something far different for the time being.

I second that. You've got a good, clean artwork style, and even more importantly your ideas are funny. Well done on your strips so far.

I like the sound of your Cabbie idea, Young Freddy. I'll go and take a look at it now.

Twice by the looks of it, because I assume you meant to quote me, not the post below.

You may, or may not know that I draw for my uncle's band now, I make the posters, CD covers, comic strip series and other bits and bobs for them. Anyway, here's one of my latest pieces, it's of their lead singer Matt casually swinging upside down on a chandelier while still smoking his cigarette.

The theme of the picture is to be a mickey-take on the Spice Girls names (e.g. Baby Spice, Scary Spice etc.), Matt is Scary Whiskey, my uncle Ian is Posh Whiskey, Sam will be Sporty Whiskey and Paddy will be Baby Whiskey.

Anyway hope you like it! :D

TRIVIA: Matt swinging upside down was based off Pavlov's Bell 'At the Sound of the Bell', I'm unsure what this is but I had to work from the picture of it. :)

I quite like that, Harry. Drawn very well, and good action! Plus (personally) I like how it's whiskey not whisky. I think that calls for a green smilie:

Wow! A green smiley! Must be good! :D

I'm very proud of it, especially considering I drew it on the computer!! Also I'm really pleased with the movement and craziness. :D

Thank you very much MMi, found your deviantART Page, brilliant stuff on there! May do some Max Fan Art for you. :)

I found these sketches of mine at the weekend - I drew them around 1980 just after Space Invaders machines had been introduced to pubs. The last picture shows my Jam shoes and white socks as I was a mod at the time.

I'm going to pitch an idea to my local diabetes clinic in Chichester, West Sussex. I thought of pitching an idea to them when I found an old copy of Diabetes UK's official magazine/comic called Tadpole Times which I featured in as a little kid for a Diabetes day at school called "Denim for Diabetes".

It got me thinking, I love to draw and I also love to do my bit for charity (being a Type 1 diabetic myself) so I figured I should combine the two together and that's when it hit me, I could make a comic strip series for the clinic to cheer up little kids who have to put up with such a life-changing condition.

----

Today I finally came up with the plan and character, so with no further will do - meet Diabetic Dan!

You can see the final design for him here:

http://wizzkid97.deviantart.com/art/Dia ... -271177607

----

Dan is normal, friendly 12 year old boy who struggles with having Type 1 Diabetes. Throughout the series, Dan must face challenges and problems which are based around his condition but he learns that having diabetes means he can still do everything and still be a normal person.

The story is going to be part-fictional with some parts being true and based around my life as a Type 1 diabetic.

----

I'm so excited about this, I really want to try and help people like myself and this is my bit to help.

----

I will upload each story of the series once coloured no matter what happens. I hope you all wish me luck!

- Harry
