After only one week. Do that every week and you'll have 5200 posts by this time next year - more than anyone here (myself and Lew Stringer are the only ones with over 3000 posts). Slow down.

Nothing wrong with speculation, Peter's right, Fred's Bed started as reprints, but they used them up, apart from the one from the final Beezer and Topper, which had the bed destroyed and was also badly outdated. They skipped that one in order to continue the strip as new episodes. Couldn't do that with the original ending. Anyway, if either the Germs or Number 13 is successful, they could end up getting new strips, not that either would exhaust their supply of old strips in a hurry.

From memory, Ill Will was named from the very beginning, but the strip title was simply "The Germs."

You know they may stop the retro pages as number 13 & the germs could be considered retro anyway & im sure number 13 was featured as a retro page a few weeks back. But i hope they do continue but if they do have to start reprinting strips why not classics such as ken reids jonah which i would love to see in its complete run in order, as i consider no13 & the germs to new to start reprinting.

The Freddie Fear strips were definitely stockpiled. I say "definitely" because, as luck would have it, Dave Eastbury's style changed at a point soon after drawing his last Freddie Fear. His Ball Boys are now in full colour, whereas all the Freddie Fears published have been in orange-o-vision.

It's understandable the Beano wouldn't advertise its return, since they've spent the entire year pretending it's still running, but could the new series of Super School debut in the revamp issue?

As a certain deleted person once said, quality over quantity. You've completely flooded the forum - mostly with resurrections, duplicates, and double/triple/quadruple posts. Please slow down and carefully consider what people have said in a topic and what you could add to it instead of impulse posting, to make life easier for the rest of us.

I'M HERE TO ANSWER ALL OF OUR PROBLEMS! I decided to find out what was going on, below is basically what he said:

The Germs and Number 13 will be re-ballooned and computer coloured and will be slightly renamed. Also dspite Ratz bombing in the poll, they will continue to appear! Phew!

So, brilliant! If all the strips will continue to appear then that means 22 pages of comics! :D

About The Germs and Number 13, I'm actually not too bothered that they're reprints, they are not to famous and I haven't read much of either comic strips. However I'm not too much of a fan of The Germs however I loved Number 13! However 'The Germs' and 'Number 13' are not their names in the bring back, they've been changed slightly!

My bet's on Gross Germs and Number 13 Beano Street.

My only problems are that The Germs and the Numskulls is WAY too alike and Number 13 may be too similar to Freddie Fear, I hope Freddie Fear returns. :(

Mike Stirling really is a brilliant guy and he really seems like he wants to make the Beano better! :D

If the Germs are Dave sutherland strips I won't have seen them before. All the strips of the Germs I have are by either Vic Neill or Keith Reynolds, with the exception of the 'taster' strip from 1987.

I'm not quite comfortable reading Whizzkid's email correspondence with the editor. Not because of the content within more to do that he's publishing a private conversation. Would everyone be happy if all our PMs were posted on the forum?

Wizzkid, you'd be right about Gross Germs and Number 13 Beano Street as those phrases are used in the advert. Although, this means they'll both lose their original title panels, which is a shame. Well, that confirms that they're reprints then (I wasn't expecting him to actually admit it!) - wow, Mike does seem to have a good rapport with the readers, personally replying to their queries. Although I notice that while he did answer the Ratz question (and that's good news), he ignored the one about Dan - maybe he hasn't decided yet?

I prefer the reprints to be the same as they were printed as well.
....recolouring is a shame as John Geering did some very unusual colour painted work in number 13...sometimes one panel in one colour..

It's a fair point, actually. Unless you have specific permission from the editor, it is best not to reveal anything of your private correspondence with him (or any other publisher/editor/creative) on this forum unless it is already public knowledge.

Just saying to be careful. Any reprinted strip outside the Retro section will be recaptioned etc before it's reused to modernise dialogue and fit the current house style, so to that extent you haven't revealed anything that we wouldn't assume - but equally, not so good to quote Mike's e-mail wholesale unless he's ok'd it ;)

The apology should be to him, no? Beano staff are on here, you know, so he will find out. Best to ask for a quote if you're going to reproduce someone's exact words, i would say. That goes for anyone too, not just editorial people or artists. It's only courtesy to keep private chat private.

However, top detective work - if you'd paraphrased what he was happy to tell you, I 'd have no problem with that! :D
