No, not DC's new "Countdown" series, or whatever Marvel has planned. But a new UK weekly anthology.

Including a new strip by "His Dark Materials" best-selling author, Philip Pullman.

Pullman has long expressed his love of comics, and seemed a natural choice to be snapped by the likes of Marvel and DC. Looks like he's found his own -- very British -- solution instead."

Let's hope it's true, and happens.

Paul Gravett mentioned this during our panel at the Birmingham Comics Show on Saturday. I think it's scheduled for this time next year. That's all I know so far, but as soon as I hear more and am at liberty to reveal the info I'll disclose it here.

As far as I know it's not going to be exclusively adventure strips. More of a balance hopefully, bringing back some variety to comics.

This sounds really exciting. I loved the Dark materials trilogy (and I'm looking forward to seeing Billie Piper in Ruby in the Smoke fnarr fnarr!). Philip Pullman is quite a dab-hand at the ol' dip and scratch. I wonder if he'll be contributing any art work?

Nice to hear that David. Thanks.

Some of those strips are almost 30 years old now, and all out of print so I was pretty chuffed when Active Images offered to reprint them all in one book.
