Saw The Grey. Enjoyed it. I'm getting more and more interested in polar ecology, so this was the real reason for seeing it. That said, it was a decent film. Horror and suspense with pathos. Mix that with mountains, snowstorms and wolves and you've got a winner.

Come to think of it, I'd love a cinema to give over a Tuesday night (or whatever) to a couple of David Attenborough episodes. Imagine seeing the Blue Planet or Life In The Freezer on the big screen. Wonderful.

The 'Grey' film about wolves was a good survivalist drama, starscape---but I thought the ending was a bit unsatisfactory----overall, well worth a look, though.......



Some of the best examples of HD-TV technology I have seen has been on the subject of wild-life, underwater footage, etc....

Sorry I am rather late in replying about the Muppet Movie, Peter; yes I did see it, and it is very faithful to the ATV series of the mid-late 1970s, and it goes back to it's roots of the ITV days.....I know Frank Oz is sadly gone, but whoever has taken over Kermits' [and others] voices has done a seamless job.

Naturally, today we are treated to shots of the Muppets 'with feet' walking around , seen in the same frame, but other than that, its pretty a much a series of slapshot gags and I hope you can catch up with it on DVD.........

I adore the new Muppet film. If you're a fan of The Muppet Show I think you'll find a lot to like about it.

I saw it twice at the cinema and even imported the Blu Ray so I could see it again! I think it's the first film I've bought to own for a good couple of years - Four Lions was probably the last (a VERY different film from The Muppets!)

If you love the old TV series and movies but have been disappointed with latter-period Muppet endeavours, do give the new film a try. A joy from start to finish - and strangely emotional too.

Just been to see The Avengers. My inner geek is satisfied with the movie and I can heartily recommend it to any comic fan. To those who come cold to the superhero genre, then there are worse starting points. I am not putting anything else apart from one quote as I may be accused of creating spoilers.

The quote is "...and you Hulk. Smash!"

5/5 for me.

----As Col the Cool One so aptly attests to, the new AVENGERS ASSEMBLE outing is surely of special interest to many comics fans, inasmuch as the 'whole cast' of vintage Marvel characters team up for this one, [though SONY licensed Spidey is naturally absent , of course] .

Much of this film is very faithful to the anarchic shenanigans and mayhem we all remember from Jack Kirby-styled panels of our comics-reading youth, with the cityscape finale in particular an all-out slugfest between our heroes and incoming deviant aliens Hellbent on dominating Earth through an interdimensional Vortex .

Also some very cool scenes aboard an anti-gravity craft that resembles a gliding batteship.....my own favourite characters in this are Iron Man and the delightful turn played by the delectable Scarlett Johannsen:






The Hulk's appearences are pared back to a minumum [perhaps wisely, as he never really held up to an in-depth analysis in his previous two outings] and the most Eathbound, non-Superhero portrayal is that of Thor, who falls far short of the iconic entity of the glory Marvel comic-book incarnation.


Contains endless gliding CGI shots from every concievable angle, even if some frames appear more Photoshop than ILM......absolutely spectacular for all that, though, I am not the biggest Suerhero fan by any means, but I will be returning for a second [and possibly third] visual serving.

Sorry if I'm repearting stuff, but, I highly recommend going to see The Pirates! in an Adventure With Scientists!

The film is absolutely hilarious and a feast on the eye for any fan of claymation. The Pirates! adventure books by Gideon Defoe are also worth reading to!

Aardman are the kings of animated slapstick, and also of claymation full stop. They are utterly brilliant.

The film is aimed at children, but the books are not.
