It's in XVID format. Try Googling for and installing the XVID codec.

Or try playing it with VLC Player which I think negates the need to get the XVID codec.

It is playable. I've played it myself.

.is there anything missing? I saw Hotspurs..Wizard..Plug..and bags of original artwork......

I hope they put more of the older comics on disc
.......Classics of the comics would benefit..etc..

Artists didn't actually work in the comic offices, they had their own department, it was the editorial staff who had the offices as their domain. So it was the likes of Ian Chisolm and Bill Swinton, the first two editors of the Beezer, who held sway in the particular bolthole you mention.
Thomsons do indeed have a fantastic collection of their own material but there are still things that are missing from their archive. For instance a number of the nursery items that they published in the 1930's seem to have been mislaid and are not to be found in either the relatively small comic archive that was featured in the Broons programme or in the much larger warehouse facility where they store those items that are less likely to be needed on a regular basis for research etc which includes their newspaper and women's magazine collection.
As to their artwork archive this is nowhere near as complete as you might imagine as, over the years, a fair amount of it has been lost through natural wastage, over vigourous 'Spring cleaning' at a time when the artwork was perceived as basically worthless and plain pilfering. I myself have catalogued a great deal of artwork for collectors that I'm sure Thomsons would still rather like to have in their vaults including for instance approx 300 early Keyhole Kate strips drawn by Allan Morley inc that which featured in Dandy No1 in 1937!
Up until the 1970's certain items of artwork were considered naturally expendable i.e those items that would not be likely to ever be needed for reprint purposes. In this way lots of artwork from annuals and summer specials etc inc those much sought after cover images were happily dispatched.

the 70's and early 80's people didn't see a future for original artwork and tv programs.

At Fleetway they have quite a lot on disc....Look and Learn are showing this.....but did they keep Buster...Whoopee..Whizzer and chips original artwork comics...etc..?

You don't happen to have the equivalent Oor Wullie one (that I think aired in Feb/Mar 2006)? If it ever screens again would you be inclined to do the same with it (ie: put online to download)?

The nursery titles that are missing from the Thomson/Leng archive seem to include several years worth of the long running Fairyland Tales and books such as Children's Holiday Fun and Jolly Jinks. Whether they have actually been lost or just mislaid is open to question however. Maybe when they do an inventory of their huge storage warehouse they will turn up.
