Spaceship Away Part 28 came through the post from eBay. A really good read and not only for Dan Dare fans, but Garth and other older Sci-Fi strips too. :)

Just received in the mail this morning the final print issue of the Dandy from DCT.

I haven't had a good look at the issue yet but I will be doing so later today.

The comics I mentioned earlier arrived today and they did indeed include the Tammy 10th birthday issue so I am a happy bunny.
The Tammy Project: Documenting the classic British girls' comic, one serial at a time.

stevezodiac - yes that was me! I ended up going to the comic mart and finding lots of good stuff there, so there was no money left to go back to the ephemera fair!

Found a decent (and cheap) copy of the 1971 Whizzer and Chips annual in Notting Hill - the spine's a bit torn but I haven't seen many of these around.

Two old issues of Poot!, the last ever Dandy, three issues of Ziggy and the 1977 Shiver and Shake annual are what I've got this week.

And the first issue of Sonic The Comic's been in the post for a couple of weeks now, wonder where it's ended up?

I didn't buy them but a friend mentioned she got a pile of Battles through Freecycle and her son wasn't really enjoying them. I mentioned my interest and said I would be happy to give them a loving home. I thought they would be in fairly tatty condition but still readable. Imagine my delight when I received them and found that they were a run from the Action merge (Nov '77 to May '79). As chuffed as I was at that, I was even more delighted when I found that they still had ALL the pullouts so I now have the four part poster and the Commando game. Currently up to the 31 Dec 77 issue and I can recognise every artist. Oh joy! :D

And I finally remembered to order a copy of the Dandy!

Finally got that final Dandy on Weds (2nd print run).

Got it on my way to work at Wh Smith Bolton - the lady assistant says she doesn't think they sent enough copies. She was right there - all gone by noon!

Like i said I was never a big Dandy fan (my budget preferred the Beezer - to my Dandy preferring father), but it's worth to say you were there at the end (my views on the final one are mixed - still re-print of the first copy is just great).

Forgot to say when I bought that Dandy I also got a Christmas Radio Times at same time. Does that count as a comic? It ought to! Totally comic Xmas Tv & the radio too. Nothing on! Anywhere. Both mediums! Just as well you're never alone with your comics at Christmas! (and I hate Xmas myself!)

Also forgot 2 say my comic haul this week up to now:

June 1979 annual
Debbie 1983 annual
Bunty 1982 annual

All annuals have plenty examples of Rob MacGilivray's brilliant assorted work.

Also got another day:

A pile of assorted 1964 editions of Schoolfriend

The final ever 1971 June & Schoolfriend (the new re-branded June advertised inside). (had the impressive front cover of Tina (aka Luckys Living Doll) dressed as a Mexican pointing at a milk bottle picking a milk bottle. Iconic).

The Art and History of the Dandy, using two Waterstones loyalty cards converted into £10 gift cards - good use, I reckon ;)

Not a comic, but comic related - some Dennis and Gnasher Mud Pies and Chew-bies. They're wafer mallows and fruit chews. Christmas gimmicks. :)

Just picked up ~300 assorted Beano (most1986-1988), Beano comic libraries, Whizzer & Chips and Buster for $100 AUD.

Won 63 beano superstars/specials the other day on ebay for £15.

Very happy :D
