That incomprehensible eh? Doesn't bode well for casual non-tech-savvy fans does it? They seriously need to get their house in order.Phoenix wrote:Well, there you have it. The simplicity of it all. Issue 10 is just plain broken. Just look at what Harry Rickard (Wizzkid97) posted on Facebook!

Re: Digital Dandy
Experienced all this myself too but what are we meant to do about it? The problems in previous issues still haven't been mended, despite polite email requests pertaining to such. After all, it does ask you to email 'editor@dandy.com' if you have any technical issues.
Surely, before the issues is 'published', somebody (by the definition of the word editor, I would presume, the editor) should sit down and click through the issue to 'test' it out?
A lot of these strips are now 'continuous' stories, so you will miss chunks of the story if one episode doesn't work.
I know this is a new thing, but where is the quality control?

Re: Digital Dandy
Good question. All of the strips are accessible using the next strip/last strip buttons (seems to be a new feature this week, but Sneaker is missing them). So on this occasion, the problem was probably caused by someone inputting the wrong urls for the frames in the html source code (hence the page not found errors - the comics are up, but the links point to the wrong place). Likewise, the frame resizing code (which I haven't managed to identify) must've been omitted on some of the pages. I wouldn't be surprised if the editor looks at the strips at full screen rather than embedded into the webpages. He wouldn't see the size problem that way, as it simply expands to fill the screen.
Unfortunately, I know full well that some of you won't know what the heck I'm talking about - and neither will the target audience. They won't know what's causing the problems, they'll just stop buying Dandy credits.

Re: Digital Dandy
Just checked issue 10 again and on first look it seems that all of the strips are fixed
.
Credit where it's due - well done to The Dandy team for sorting this one out..
Now, if they can just take a look at issues 5, 7 & 8 and check 11 BEFORE it is published, we'll be on our way to being able to just talk about the comic strips, art and stories!!
Btw, Jamie Smart's take on The Numskulls was hilarious and his new strip Kingo Bango looks to be a good one too!
Retro Active building nicely and the new take on Keyhole Kate is much better, there's a lot more options to develop the character if she isn't, basically, a peeping tom(ette)!

Re: Digital Dandy
Issue 1 needs looking at as well. Dan and Hammie have the frame size bug.
Re: Digital Dandy
Sadly I still can't read the comic strips because my laptop for some reason can't load the animations any more ever since I updated my Flash Player...

Re: Digital Dandy
I've decided not to continue with the online Dandy...paper comics are so much easier to read...also my computer is too old..
I wish they kept the paper Dandy going...especially with these new ideas...and Tom being back..

Re: Digital Dandy
I've stopped reading The Digital Dandy on my laptop as it's very buggy and logs you out after 20 minutes or so of reading. I still read the comic but now read it on my mum's Android phone (mine isn't a new enough version...
). It's actually far better on the app - more responsive and easier to navigate.
On a sidenote, Jonah has indeed returned as a mini-strip with art by the previously much-missed Mike Pearse!

Re: Digital Dandy
hopefully a merger with the Beano so we can still get to see classic dandy characters in paper form again.
Re: Digital Dandy
inside the 'issue' is just this 'announcement'...
Can any insiders shed any light on the news?

Re: Digital Dandy
Knew it would just be a splash page. So why are they charging for it? Yeah, it still says you need to spend credits. That wasn't the case with the Christmas one which served to inform readers about the post-Christmas hiatus.
