Perhaps she was confusing them with the Boy Commandos from golden age DC Comics. More likely she was thinking of the Dead End Kids who were in 40s films and, given the noirish take on modern Batman films, made that connection? Perhaps not - she was probably just thick.

Those are probably more fundamental questions staring everyone in the face. I wouldnt say someone is necessarily thick for not knowing them, much less a minor interest kids comic they may never have read.

For a monthly comic to have that many issues it would have had to run for 250 years.

Presuming you're talking about the UK edition, the comic was either weekly or fortnightly throughout its run, so it seems an unanswerable question.

As you probably read on the Down the Tubes website, tonight's episode of Come Dine with Me on Channel 4 featured comic artist/editor David Leach. (You may know David as the creator of Psycho Gran for Oink! and these days as an editor at Titan publishing.) Funny stuff.

First a confession - yes I like Storage Hunters on Dave channel. The other night a storage unit contained some super hero costumes and dozens of boxes of comics. The woman assumed they were worth a fortune but her husband was picking them up and saying "sixty cents, sixty cents they are worth the cover price at most." I noticed a Green Lantern and a Rocketeer.

Still going through old video tapes and today I came across Michael Aspel interviewing George Harrison and Ringo Starr. He asked Ringo about Thomas the Tank Engine and Ringo said when he was asked to do it he was unfamiliar with the books "I was a Beano lad" he said. Don't know the date of the interview but George's new single was "When We Were Fab"

Two 30's Dandys and Adventure comic was shown in last weeks Dead mans folly Poirot..and used for a plot point...the child had written a message on the comic...Korky the cat was hit by a bull...it is set before World War 2...hope someone can do a screen grab!!

There was a proud moment! It was 1988, and quite a coup for Aspel as George rarely did TV, but it paid off, with two hit singles that year. (For Harrison, not Aspel.)

You are not the only one Steve. I find it fascinating to see what is found at times and the reactions of the "winners".

here you go (apologies for the subtitles in one pic, showing the standard misspelling that occurs so often). The Dandy's are numbers 34 and 36 from July and August 1938

Those 2 1938 Dandy comics can't be the genuine article can they? If not did the production company that makes Poirot get DCT to make 2 reprints for them plus the paper looks like the genuine ones too

The genuine comics would have slightly serrated edges at the top and bottom like other pre-glossy issues. Those edges are straight. They look like great facsimiles though.
