Hi Can anybody remember the free gifts you used to get in our comics . I remember a thing that was made of carboard , triangler , and when you swished it through the air it made a loud bang . How i would love to see one again Happy days

Now you're talking. I particularly remember them being given away with the Beano every few years. The one I got in 1978 was called 'The Gnasher Snapper' and it still works, though it's going a bit limp at the corner. I always thought they had a wonderfully old-fashioned 'hoop-and-stick' quality compared with the pop-guns, mini-frisbees and so on that other comics gave away. The only bad thing about the free gifts in those days was that they often coincided with the price going up...

You can still get them from collector sites. Scream with it's fangs, dreadful potato guns powered by rubber bands. The item you mention was re-inforced with cardboard at points but was mostly brown paper. Tended to tear after a few 'cracks' in your mates' ear at early morning break. Then he would hit you where it hurts most. Girls were never impressed.

My favourite was the "spud gun" that appeared in iirc a number of different titles. The only one i have is the one with Vulcan # 1. Super-hero comics had a thing for giving masks away. Spider-man Weekly # 1 had a Spidey mask, as did Captain Britain # 1 (# 2 having a Captain Britain boomerang), and i seem to recall a week when most of Marvel's weeklies had a cut-out mask on the back page. The ones I remember are a Hulk (MWOM) and a Planet of The Apes one. One of the others i really liked was a collection of replica medals that were given over the first couple of issues of Warlord. I could prbably go on for ever here, but it's a shame that these weeklies are no longer with us, barring of course 'Tooth, Beano and Dandy. Do they still give gifts away? I only get 'Tooth and they haven't given anything away in an eternity.
